I believe that it is my paternal grandmother. For years I never knew. It was taken in a studio in Manchester. There's no date on it but it is on card. Until my cousin sent some family photos to me showing my gm in the early 1900's, I've been able to make the connection. I wish her husband was as easy to trace :-|

Jem, there's a full thread on here regarding him. I'll try to dig it up and send you the link. I have all his records from when he married my Nana in 1904,( He was 44 and she was 22) up to his death in 1930. But prior to that is a total blank.

He is the reason I joined GR in the first place. Someone else was looking for a Clifford Mortimer on here, and when I contacted that person he put me on the right track. His Clifford was in Somerset

Man Of Mystery then!!! Had he been living a double life I wonder?

My 3X Great Grandfather had 10 sons. nearly all were Seamen. Most lost their lives at sea. Even though they are buried / commemorated in a Pembrokeshire church a very distant relative living in Canada tells me that they are supposed to have ended up married to women in Australia!

Jem, according to my cousin, who knew as little as I did, her mother always maintained that he came from a wealthy family but was the black sheep of the family and changed his name. According to my father, that was a load of faecal material, but I'm beginning to wonder :-|
