Hi All been a bit quiet as I've been trying to organise my dads birthday. He was 60 on the 18th. :-)

Allan Report 20 Feb 2014 22:34

Yes, Tec is so positive.

I'm a little tired. I had a late night, and then later I have to go for one of my routine blood tests to see how my diabetes is progressing. So nothing to eat or drink until about 10.30 am (water is ok)

How do you control your diabetes Allan? Do you need insulin or is it diet regulated?

Allan

Allan Report 20 Feb 2014 22:43

At the moment, just diet and exercise. Hopefully I can keep it that way

Your walks should help. Glad it's under control. Not a nice thing to have! What is the correct terminology- Condition? Illness?

DILL

Allan

Allan Report 20 Feb 2014 23:04

I've heard it referred to by several different terms. I think that disease is the correct one, but it is commonly called a chronic condition. I feel sorry for people who have type 1, especially the young ones :-(

When I was a voluntary helper (I helped children with their reading) in my Grandson's school, there was a little girl with diabetes. She had to wear a small box-like monitor to check her sugar levels.

Allan Report 20 Feb 2014 23:18

Hi GP

Jem, I'm supposed to check my own blood sugar levels twice a week, not that I often achieve that. Some have to check their levels before and after every meal

Allan Report 20 Feb 2014 23:41

No I don't , Jem. I was diagnosed 15 years ago and have just become lazy about my own testing. When first diagnosed my BS levels were all over the shop, but they now appear to have stabilised. I do like to eat at regular times, particularly in the evenings. When I was working and the social club went out for a meal we often wouldn't get served until well after 9.00pm which didn't help

I used to do a lot of work for the local Diabetes group and once even appeared on TV :-D

Juicy oranges

And that's my lot for the moment. Will be back later. Sleep well :-)

Hope your testing goes well Allan :-)

Goodnight anyone else looking in :-)

Hi GP :-)

I keep missing you when I'm typing!

I was dressed in my red welsh rugby shirt with daffodil pinned on. Red Dangly earrings and my Welsh Cowgirl Hat!

Yes I actually have the exact same hat as was in my avatar! Well it's my Grandson's really- but I nicked it for effect! :-D :-D
