Hi all

What an uncomfortable night. It was still 38c at 9.00pm and when I went for my walk this morning (3.45am) the temp had only dropped down to 28c :-(

Hi Allan :-)

Make sure you take a drink with you when you go for your walks if it is as hot as that!

I bet you will be relieved when the cooler weather arrives Allan. It's been very bright and sunny here today, but extremely cold.

Sushi rolls

I will, Jemima. I don't like the heat, but that's the nature of the country :-D. Tasmania would be a nice place to live. Slightly more moderate there and the scenery is very reminiscent of parts of the UK :-D

Yes I saw a programme once- can't remember what it was called, but a family had to "test drive" a country, so to speak, to see if they would decide to live there. The family in that particular programme decided to live in Tasmania.

We've been to Tassie twice now, and really like the State. House prices are cheaper than mainland Oz but unemployment is very high

Have you lived in many places in Australia?

Apple strudel

No, we haven't. We spent a couple of months in Perth when we first arrived and I was looking for work. We then moved to Leonora which is about 200 kms north of Kalgoorlie. Stayed there until 1986 when I got a job with the Bunbury Council and we have been down here ever since.

I have seen parts of Oz that are restricted areas for most people and apart from Darwin, I have visited the capitals on most States

That's great. I haven't travelled much really. Did you find it easy to settle there?

I don't know whether it is my computer or the website, but everything appears to be either going wrong or being very slow. So I will call it a day now.

Have a good day Allan. Take care in the heat :-)

Custard apples

It was ok for me as I had a job. OH found it a little difficult, and Leonora, thirty two years ago, was a real bush town. It soon changed with the opening of more gold mines but it was still real outback country. We haven't been back to the UK since, and we want to do a trip before we get much older.

I'm going to quit now. I've had more problems with this site and slow speeds. Logged of the UK site and logged back on via the Oz site. Also need to get some water on the garden. Sleep well :-)

Hello all. The weather is much cooler today, but that is no consolation for those caught in the bushfires around Perth :-(
