My and OH's cars will be 7 years old next year Alan. I think it's the longest either of us have kept a car. OH's has done about 160,000 miles so I think he will look to change his before long, but when they drive well you think better the devil you know!! Mine hasn't done so much mileage now OH has retired so I'm hanging on to it. It has a metal folding roof and leather seats and it was my treat to myself when I retired!! :-)

Vodka

My car has only done 90,000 kms. I bought it when I set up my own business after taking a redundancy from work. Then when consultancy work dried up after the GFC I decided to close my business as the insurance cost for public liability and professional indemnity were crippling. Now, I might use the car once or twice a week, and I noticed this morning that petrol has risen by 9cents a litre from yesterday :-(

Wedding Cake

Hi Allan :-)
Cars just eat money away don't they? Perhaps you could manage with just one car? A Moped? A pushbike? :-)

Hi Jemima

We could get by with one car. Although OH and I have different hobbies which take us out and about, none of the days/evenings that I am out clashes with OH's. During the day there is also a bus service, although only at hourly, intervals into Bunbury. OH and I are both eligible for free travel between certain times. :-D

It would probably be worth you giving up one car in that case. Trouble is, we get used to what we have, and the freedom that it gives us.

Did you hear about Michael Schumacher in Australia?

My Grandchildren refuse to wear their helmets when they are on their bikes. They say that they will be made fun of if they do :-0 :-| :-|
I remember poor Natasha Richardson and it worries me. I hope that it will become law that they have to wear them here.

Dunking Biscuits

Did you hear about Tec? He is back in his wheelchair and not well at all :-(

Allan

Allan Report 30 Dec 2013 21:59

Helmets are compulsory in WA, but you still see many kids, and adults, without them.

I wasn't aware that Tec was ill again, as I have only popped onto the Aussie thread occasionally recently. I do hope that he will be ok
