15th August, the Royal British Legion, in partnership with the Government, will host a National Commemorative Event at the National Memorial Arboretum to mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day and the end of the Second World War. The event will honour all those who served in the Far East and the Pacific, with a national Two-Minute Silence held at midday, followed by an invite only one-hour service at the Armed Forces Memorial. The commemoration will feature 400 members of the Armed Forces, performances by military bands, and a flypast by the Red Arrows and aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The service will be broadcast live on BBC One and iPlayer from 11:30am to 1pm and screened for the public at the Naval Review area of the Arboretum.

Thank you for the information, Maddie.

We passed a notice in town today warning of road closures that weekend, so I must check to see if there is a military parade happening.
