Any of you ladies out there have dolls houses?

None of you?

There was a dolls house and all its furniture made by my great grandfather and passed down the family ever since. After my daughter had outgrown it I passed it on to a cousin for her daughter and I don't know what happened to it after that. I hope it's somewhere in the extended family but, even if I find it, after 4 generations of children playing with it furniture or equipment left will be too battered for your purposes. But you have brought back a few happy memories for me :-D

I have 4, in various stages of dereliction! :-D
Two were bought new, as kits, the other 2 were badly built by someone else, and sold at charity shops.
I also have about 3 chests of drawers full of dolls house 'stuff'.

The first one I bought and built about 20 years ago - that's slowly falling apart.

Moving 2 years ago has ensured the other buildings were all damaged in some way. :-|

I am just building one Mel. I have built several in the past for my 4 grand daughters but this one is for me :-D

Yes, It's nothing special but is 1940's so interior vintage walpaper and furniture too.

Dolls are a family, Grandmother, Grandfather, grown up daughter, young daughter and baby. I've got a feeling it was a therapy dolls house. Otherwise why would there be four generations of women and only one man?

It's too old fashioned to be appealing to a child now I would have thought :-S

I make dolls house minitures. I have a fidsherman cottage not finished and started in the 1970. A georgian shop also started in the 1970 and still not finished and a four storey Georgian house which was the one mum bought me after dad died in 1979 also not finished.

I get great pleasure from making the miniatures and each time I make something new its a good challenge. Last week and before I made a Tudor Feast and I am just about to put it on Ebay. I love my tiny world creations.

I know a lady who lives near me and she has bought lots of things froom me. She has a huge cabinet with many rooms and she tells me its her life in all the rooms. She's 84. She has bought harvest jugs and bread from me and clarice cliff vases and even tudor things.

Mine is a 4 story Victorian Townhouse which I am now furnishing and dressing dolls for.

My big dolls house was bought for me by my mother. Dad had made her a dolls house out of an old television cabinet. I still have it but it was'nt 1/12 scale. My hubby at the time made dolls house furniture while I did the miniatures to go inside dolls houses. Mum bought some from him and she also like Dennis Jenvy furniture. I have some of the Dennis Jenvy things myself. I would always make something for mum for Christmas. It all grew from there and now I am back making minitures which I sell on Ebay.

It would have been my 2nd hubby and I's 28th Anniversary tomorrow.

I will be thinking of you tomorrow Mel, <3 try and just remember the happy times :-). I was hoping to do some more to my house today but OH decided that he wanted to go out to the viewing day at the local Auction rooms so that all went to pot :-D :-D :-D

My Dad made me a lovely big doll's house, would have been just post war. I loved it, he was very clever with carpentry. All the rooms had working lights and all were furnished, I can't remember clearly but furniture was of the ime so 40s/50s and a lot made by Dad too. I can remember the house still being at my parents when I got married but I think Mum must have sold it. she was never one to consider that it was not hers to sell :-D so I have no idea where it went.

No Ann it was only the viewing day and the Auction itself was this morning. Nothing we really fancied or needed this time so a few pennies less spent :-D :-D. I am going to do a bit on the house in a while while OH watches the Grand Prix qualifying as it doesn't interest me at all.
I am hoping to get the bedding and pillow made for the baby crib and also make the baby to go in it.

My oh loved the Grand Prix.

Mine does too as he was involved with motor sport until just recently. Our main sport is football which I definitely do watch :-D :-D :-D

I have almost finished the baby crib but cannot find any really narrow lace trim to edge the cover with. I will not give up searching :-D :-D :-D :-D
