I didn't read it but I don't see how asking for help for a charity can be abusive. However Lisa, I was surprised that you were able to put your first thread up asking for help for charity because ever since the beginning of GR (then GC) we have never been allowed to put charity threads up except for special ones when we have got permission from GR

If you look at T&Cs you will see it does state this.

I don't think i is a vendetta, more likely that they have got a moderator working who is going through the threads.

Maybe a Gr member asked for it to be removed. I couldn't imagine Gr removing it just like that. xx

I think charities are covered in this paragraph of Ts & Cs

10.Relevance.

The Genes Reunited Service is intended to be used by its Members for the purposes referred to in Clause 2 above. Accordingly, Members undertake not to::

* (a) include an email address, postal address, phone number, the address of any website, or any other information which is intended to facilitate direct communication, in material which is posted on the Genes Reunited Service. Full Members and the recipients of their emails can share this information, should they wish, once direct contact has been made;
* (b) place material on, or otherwise use, the Genes Reunited Service for any business or commercial purpose; or
* (c) use access to the Genes Reunited Service, or information gathered from it, for the sending of unsolicited bulk email (sometimes known as spam).

I am sure it used to actually say charities but can't find it now.

Not me Lisa, I never even saw your thread...but it may not have been the actual thread, just the way some of the replys were going. I think the moderators are being extra careful...

There are a lot of us on this site who are affected by Breast Cancer ourselves or one of our close family.

Id like to echo what Ann said regarding the charity threads & t & Cs.

It has always been the case, as far back as GC. You need permission to post any charity related thread or fundraiser from GR.

I did see a couple of charity fundraising threads on both boards over the last couple of days and thought then it was only a matter of time before they were zapped.

If someone reported your thread for being abusive, then I really cant see Gr removing it if it wasn't, then going on to tell you it was. If it was just for the fundraising aspect, they would have told you so.

Reporting a thread if its abusive is hardly a vendetta or a crime & I'm sure abuse would have something to say if a person continues to report for no reason.

the thread was not abusive, and GR did remove it

To be honest with you Lisa................if someone does have a grudge against you, they are not likely to tell you either on the boards or via pm.

As to why GR pulled it...............they are the only ones who know the answer to that one, so I would insist they give you the details ofthe reason it was pulled.

Just carry on posting and being yourself Lisa................that's my advice.

Chin up.

All GR told me is that I had reported by someone as my thread was abusive.
I have emailed them asking them as to how they could think that it was abusive but I can't see myself getting a reply off them.
Thanks Kitty

Lisa , I may be wrong but I thought GR now sent out a standardised e-mail which says something along the lines of " your Thread, post ...... has been removed by the Gr abuse team because it contravenes our Terms and conditions ".
Can,t remember it word for word though .

Genes Reunited - Abusive Post Report
Is what was included in the email off GR as well as that someone had reported me for been abusive, well if they think that I was been abusive by trying to help someone to get help raising money for Breast Cancer then I would hate to see what they say about people who have been abusive to others

Yes I agree Kim.
I am really trying to keep my chin up but I have had enough of been reported now.
I have been thanked by the person I was trying to help so it was worth getting reported knowing that I have at least done some good for someone

Hi Lisa, I never saw your thread, but raising money for Breast cancer should be applauded, not pulled!!

If an individual (s) reported your thread, then I think that is very sad indeed, and if GR pulled it cos of T&C's well I'm sorry, but they should hang their heads in shame. Keep up the good work & yes, chin up girl!

I could have understood it if it was pulled because of T&C's and not because of it supposed to have been abusive Whirley, I will not give up trying to help the person I did the thread for though.
Thank you Whirley

Hi Lisa

I don't know you and didn't see your thread but have read all of this one. I certainly have no problem with anyone asking for support with sponsorship for such worthwhile causes.
We all have the choice as to whether we wish to respond and contribute so fail to see what the problem is with some folk and GR.

luv sue x
