Has anyone tried breathing exercises for anxiety? thought this might be of help to those that suffer with panic attacks and anxiety.
i was given a leaflet for this when i suffered from panic attacks shortly after my daughter was born. it really helped especially at night time, all it is if you feel a panic coming on breath in and out a few times concentrating on your breathing and nothing else then breath in as much as you can through your nose hold it for a few seconds then breath out slowly through your mouth do this a few times until you feel relaxed.
Sorry if ive not worded this right and please excuse the spelling.

Elaine I have a method I used years ago at my worst.

whatever it is that is worrying you.... think about it, and fix it in your imagination.

If it is money... you win the lottery, auntie Ada leaves you two million.... whatever.
You will start by paying the bills, the whatever it is you have always wanted..... you will be asleep before you can spend very much.

Need a holiday? invent one....
Whatever it is.

Please believe me... it works.
have a good sleep love.x

well done you - one day at a time girl and you are doing just fine. About relaxing, I'll have to have a think about that one - wonder if my "getting off to sleep" idea might work for you. I do things A - Z to get off to sleep, so I suppose that's a relaxant in a way. I pick a subject and then start at A - like, makes of cars, flowers, veg, trees, breeds of dog and so on. Just a suggestion but maybe someone will come up with something a lot better - I expect they will!!

Yes Ann.... you can always have 'fun with a son'.... mine has me in 'fits' sometimes.

If you heard him you may say... 'why is she laughing?? he has just insulted her!'
But that is it.... He is funny, and he makes me feel good.

I'm back folks.

My son came in and cheered me up a bit... as he always does.
So I felt like a look on the boards.

Going now though, have a lovely evening, and if you celebrate St Valentines day... I hope you have a romantic time.

Hi folks, how are you all doing today?

I'm a little better, but not well yet.
Allan washed the windows and took down the nets. I washed them and he hung them back up....felt good at the time, buy as you know that sort of uplift doesn't last long.

Kath, I know how you feel from my own experience, so can I just say that I am so proud of you.
That really was a huge step.

Malc.... been there too. I have even phoned the doctor to say... I can't come I'm too frightened!! How stupid does that sound to some one who has never suffered panics???
BUT just remember, you WILL get there eventually. Good luck with it.

Ann... it is not fair to blame Gordon Brown for my depression..... poor man is already over loaded with the wicked things he has to answer for! ;-0)

Nice to come on and have a little chat.

Caz I have PM'd you.x

Caz, it's awful when you have to decide what to get rid of and what to keep, I have so many clothes that I too kid myself I might wear again, but I know I won't so they must go. I keep thinking I could do a boot sale as I need as much money as poss to do the house up but in reality I wouldn't get much for them so might as well take them to a homeless centre or charity shop. You take care, don't overdo things. It will be nice when you get settled in the bungalow eh? Less work and all on one level.
Catch you later,
love

Liz I am the same, we have to move to a disabled bungalow but we have so many things, I collected cook books, now they all have to go bar a few of them. I'm also clearing my wardrobe, I have put so much weight on but have been kidding myself that I would get into my size 16 again, no chance, so they are all going to Oxfam or somewhere. You will get there in the end.

Hi Caz, sorry you are having trouble sleeping, hon.Wish I could wave a magic wand for you.
Will be off to bed myself shortly, I didn't get a lot of sleep on Tuesday and want to go out this pm so need some rest.
Take care,
love

If I could just pack a bag and go, would be easy, but I have so much stuff here and lots of pots in the garden with flowers and shrubs, and my own garden is too overgrown to make room for them yet. Wouldn't leave them here, he has already killed off one of my camellias, by moving it under the tree in its pot when it finished flowering last year. I was in Malta so by the time I got home it had dried out and died, stupid idiot of a man. I will miss the garden most of all when I go, I redesigned it for him and made him a grass garden in one corner. Did lots of work and when I go he will probably lose interest.

Hi all, Kathy, I am impressed, I couldn't have got so far, I might have done one, but two, nah! I bet you feel so pleased with yourself when you wake up this morning and think 'I did it'
Malc, don't worry, it makes it worse, besides we have all been there so are rooting for you.
Liz, I echo Kathy but it does take time I know.
Mary you are such a wonderful grandmother, so caring, your family are extremely lucky to have you.
Carolina I have just e-mailed photo off.
Deanna, please don't stay away, did you feel my hand holding yours last night in our black cloud?
Hope your tests go ok Ann in Glos.
Hope everyone is feeling a bit more positive today, sorry if I've missed anybody out, been up since two again.

Love Caz xxxxx
