I do my best to help out where I can

Doesn't matter if you give a little or a lot
Message is still the same!

As somebody said Sammy, there have been threads on the homeless on the General board, we are very conscious of the homeless and the need to support them, I had a thread up about The Big Issue sellers last week. And we do all support charities, all year not just at Christmas.

Well done for working with the homeless at christmas.

If you have a village hall or something like that that could be avilable over the festive period then please let your local cente know

Know what Sammy ... this is a lovely message , Thank you
Think most of us are aware of the people for whom Christmas is not the most wonderful time of year ...
But it is the time of year when your message hits home the hardest ..and people really do take notice ...

Thank you - but sorry to preach but if some of you could think of those who live on the streets and have nothing maybe with all your christmas stuff could give a little to the Sally Army or some such.

'Xmas' is an abbreviation for the word 'Christmas'. But, it isn't new, disrespectful or a sign of laziness. It also doesn't take the "Christ" out of "Christmas".

"X" is a letter in the the Greek alphabet. The word for Christ in Greek is "Xristos", so the letter "X" became a common symbol for Christ. During the Middle Ages, Christmas greetings and celebrations were banned in several countries at different times. Using the word "Xmas" was a way for people to still honor Christmas when they weren't allowed to say or write the whole word.
Later Christians who didn't understand the Greek reference to Christ spread the rumor that anyone using the word "Xmas" was trying to take the meaning out of Christmas. This, of course, was not true, but the same rumor persists today.

There will always be people who disapprove of using "Xmas" or simply have a preference for the full word "Christmas". The only important thing to know is that "Xmas" wasn't created to be disrepectful to the holiday.
