I bottle fed both of mine, just the thought of breast feeding makes me cringe, but have nothing against anybody else doing it but was not for me.

I bonded with all four of my bottle fed babies i just could not even think about about breast feeding my first child i was very young when i had them and the thought made me feel embarrased for some reason, plus it wasnt pushed on me to breast feed, this was the late 1980,s but with my 4th child i did think about breast feeding her but felt well my others werent and we survived.
i do think its what you want to do nobody should make anyone feel bad about it.

I totally agree,

its personal choice, and my choice was to breastfeed,
its what i was comfy to do, and as i said im delighted that my daughter is going to do it, ( if all is well )

there are no right or wrong ways, as long as mum and baby are happy

But i will always think, its a very beautiful thing to share with your new baby, and you can always do it somewhere discreetly, i didnt flash my boobs in public lol

I breast fed both my girls for 22 months - never had a problem feeding them in public - no-one ever knew. Even at the baby clinic the nurse was unaware i was feeding the baby and wondered why i was taking so long to stand up!
I was 6 weeks premature and, even though mum couldn't breast feed me (3 young children at home to look after) she expressed her milk and it was picked up and fed to me.
My grand daughter was breast fed for at least 2 years. My daughter has a side sling which meant she could feed her while walking around!! New baby's due any day and she intends doing the same with this one.
A daughter of a friend of mine had a baby in August and, initially couldn't feed her. The baby had a few problems, including club feet caused by a lack of amniotic fluid. However, when the baby was 2 months old, she managed to start breastfeeding her!! Makes it much easier to manipulate her feet into the proper position, while she's feeding.

Personally I found it cheap - well it's free apart from the breast pads - and easy. No sterilising bottles etc. and - to be very basic the poo is not so smelly!!!
As others have said - you certainly slim down - I was back down to a disgusting 7 and a half stone within 2 weeks of giving birth!! (wish I was that now!)

But as with all things, it's personal choice.

I breast fed for 9 months and my daughter starting feeding her son at 8 weeks old as he was in foster care till then as it was a concealed pregnancy , she drank fennel tea which helped with milk supply.Her health visitor was no help at all, didn`t encourage her while I did as a midwife - she was a pain in the ****.

I didn't know about fennel tea - very useful to know!!
My daughters baby was due on 14th - she's now drinking Raspberry tea and eating curries LOL

daughter was gonna breast feed her babes, but at last min she bottle fed
i told her dont beat yourself up if you change your mind, do whateer you feel comfortable with

Crougar... forgot about that..yes they were always after those of us with plenty of milk to donate some...cannot do that now, cos of cross infection!

Raspberry leaf tea worked for me, I had a natural birth with no pain relief!

I breast fed my daughter for 9 months although my nipples were badly cracked.

I breast fed my twin sons for 8 months but had to top them up with a bottle from 4 months old. They were both born with a tooth so I was bitten many times.!!!

My mum did not breast feed me or my older sister and that made me determined to breast fed all my babies. Although I was in agony sometimes I feel it was the best thing I ever did.

Romany - she's drinking it by the bucketload (wants the baby before Christmas). At this rate she'll give birth and not know it!!


Viv, the teeth bit reminds me of when my eldest got a tooth - she was only about 4 months old, she bit me then looked up (still latched on) and gave the most evil laugh!!! after that, whenever she felt the urge to bite, I just used to put my little finger between her and the nipple, unlatch her and not feed her for 5 minutes - I put my finger in her mouth for her to chew on. She soon learnt!!
