I'm afraid it's not my favourite time of year.

Lots of the really bad things that have happened in my life have happened over Christmas. This week in particular holds many many bad memories and anniversaries for me.

I bounce along with Christmas now because of the kids and I enjoy the day itself. I love seeing their faces on Christmas morning and that is what motivates me to do the decs and preparations. I don't want to spoil the excitement of the build up for them.

Left to my own devices I probably wouldn't bother xx

Would happily pack a bag and go but my son is coming for the day and want to spend time with him so will put up with other bits ..

Next year I think I will do things a lot differently. Hope not to be here for a start, let his boys have him.

Me.

We have had a lot of sad things happen at this time of year. I do try to go along with the theme and I do enjoy parts of it but I long for it to be over.

I view Christmas with a certain suspicion. Like you, Joy, my Dad died on 16th December many years ago, and I didnt have much heart for a long time. In my childhood, I have had an Uncle (fueled by drink) crawling under the table, whilst we chomped merrily on, making lion noises, and nipping our legs.. An Aunt who choose Christmas Day to try and murder me, and then when I made a huge effort when I had my own son, he proceeded to get sick all over the table, just as we were about to eat, and a Dr had to be called.

This coming Christmas is going to be sooooo normal *looks over shoulder... lol BC XXX.

Rach, Diana, and Joy, I remember my poor old Dad's last Christmas when he had come out of the hospice in time to spend it with Mum and all of us. before he went downhill again and died of Lung Cancer in January. It was their 44th Wedding Anniversary Dec 29th and he managed to eat a little piece of the cake I made them.
I also recall the Christmas I was pregnant with my daughter, and all my hopes and dreams, only to have them snatched away when she was born prematurely in the January and lived for just three days.
The years when my son was small made it much better but as he got older and stopped believing in Father Christmas and then after my Mum died too, it lost its pleasure. Every year, despite the fact I have so many new friends to add to the list of cards, I remember the people no longer there to receive a card or gift, and it saddens me so much.

Never mind, by next week at this time, it will be nearly over!

Bah Humbug,
