Answer for Sally Moonchild with Sparkley bits.

The bear you found - Russ Berrie had a depot in Southampton at one time, as I temped for them for a while in the late 1980's.

I dont know if they are still there. Lovely time us girls had with all the cuddly toys.

Oh forgot to say my Teddy Bear, was called Teddy.

Thanks Teddys.....I was reading this thread again and realised that I have not had a reply as yet to the email I sent to Russ Berrie. U.S.A....

It did say on the label UK.Ltd....but there was no website in this country......their toys look sweet and cuddly....I am surprised I had not heard of them before.....

at mums i still have my bear dad brought back from germany ,,,he is straw filed in quite good nick ------------

--but sadly missing his metal button in his ear as mum made dad take it out thinking it was a stupid &dangerous idea to put metal in a bears ear!!!who ever heard of such a thing,!!!!!,,,,,,,,and my brother still had his wind up train set&track that he got,,,,,,,,,,

I have a teddy that I have had for forty eight years since | was two and he still sits on my bed. All the joints move and he has suede paws. He used to wind up at the back and sing three blind mice to me when I went to bed. Can still get him to sing sometimes although I dont need him to sing me to sleep anymore, dont have any trouble these days. My mum recently had his paws recovered and put a red ribbon round his neck, looks lovely.

She has no fingers..nasty brothers bit them off.............forgiven them now.
Little cousin drew all over with biro pen She has travelled all over with me and would not part with her for all the tea in China cause my granny bought me her.

Well done Kate on gettting the award.
I ahve a new old one coming this week Chad Valley from the 1940's made a space for him( my present to myself). Now if he needs cleaning do I leave it as a Christmas treat love to see them all nice and clean or do I do him now. Coming from a good home so may not need one.

Thanks for the tips as Zooney came up a treat but now needs some new eyes and repair his suede foot. Do they sell them at hobby craft (eyes that is lol)

Your new old bear must be of pensionable age now lol so deserves a clean up anytime!

Glad Zooney came up well. If you can't find a suede to match cover both the same look round for a remnant.I get my eyes off the internet not sure of the name of the company off hand will see if I can find it. I get the glass ones with loops then you get some very strong thread and a big needle. What I do is go in from the back of the head or if the needle isn't long enough go from the back of the ear go out through where the eye is to be placed then thread the eye through take the thread back to the first place and tie. Hope that makes sense don't worry he won't mind LOL.
Yes think he will deserve a nice clean when he arrives reay for christmas I am like a id whenthey arrive can't wait. Think she was posting him yesterday so should be Mon or Tues.

There are some on ebay but may not be what you want and they are selling more than one pair not sure if there are any single pairs .Don't forget to measure his old eyes if he has any.
