my dear old Mum made a little suit for my Ted after resoling his feet and hands - the suit is a pair of trousers and a little jacket with velcro - it's made of crimplene so that'll give you an idea of how the suit is!

Walking down a country lane in slushy icy snow, I found a dirty bedraggled 4" teddy....flattened by the cars......I felt so sorry for him....I did what Germaine does for hers.....soaked him and gently washed and brushed him......he has a threadbare patch where the straw pokes through.....and he is blue.....

He now sits in the basket where I keep my washing powder and stuff, he peeks his head and arms over the top.......I wonder who he belonged to.....

Isn't it lovely that we all have such love and feeling for a stuffed toy! (I hope they don't read this and be offended)

The dustbinmen round here had a thing about putting teddies and cuddly toys on the radiator grille of their lorries.......I felt so sorry for them, someones teddy just hanging like that.......and what if a child saw its teddy in this way......my Mum was as soft as me because she picked up old dolls and teddies at car boot sales, cleaned them and kept them.....

my teddy isnt that old, only a few months older than me so hes 19ish. hes a heart-to-heart bear, and when you cuddle him his heart beats! hes been in the wars a bit, a mouse ate his face when he was in the garage in storage befoe we moved, but we stitched his hat over the hole in his face! so now hes as good as new, cant wait to give him to any kids I might have so that they can love him as much as I do.

My hubby has his teddy bought by his dad for his first Christmas - so it will be 60 this year. When we found it after his mom died the head was coming off - a lady I worked with offered to repair him - she had a hell of a job - she reckons he is made of sheepskin.
Teddy still sits on top of wardrobe - bless !!!!

my teddy is in his 80s
but he has been recovered
so might not count
the old cover is still underneath
as bits of straw and sawdust
was falling out of him in my bed
when i was little
so mum recovered
him using a fur coat
he belonged to my auntie marlene
who is now in her 90s
and lives in new zealand

my hubby still has his teddy from the 50s
he is called fluffy
but is totally bald

Re: the bear I found (on page 2)....

I decided to take another look at him and he has a little sewn-in label saying Russ Berrie UK.Ltd.....and an Item number....so...

I googled the name and came up with an American site, so I have contacted them to ask if they can give me any information as to the age of the teddy......it cannot be really old as the company was established in 1963......but just out of interest I thought I would ask.......perhaps I will give him an American name.....like Chuck or something....

My Teddy bought for me when I was born, is now 76 years old. (he could be older, according to when he was made) Has no hair, where I cut it, broken glass eye,(third pair put in). Velvet paws sew on by a doting aunt when I was five. Growl gone.

He was always by my side when we went into Air Raid Shelters in the Blitz.

Saw me through many tragedies.

Still love him after all this time. Even though I am an old girl of 76.
