My favourite dolly was called PATSY....
she was named by me after a lovely little girl who lived next door.

I used to say that I would call my little girl Patsy..... but didn't. I WAS only 6 after all.

I had big Ted and little Ted, Big ted fell apart years ago, but I still have little Ted, though he is looking poorly these days.

I also had a black velvet cat called Pussy Cat Willum. And my Gran also knitted me a Golliwog, and she knitted another one for my son. We both loved our Gollys to bits.

So string me up!! Toys were very scarce in the Forties but Mum found a knitting pattern for a Golliwog. He was an exact replica (all the right colours) of the ones on the jam pots. He was just Golly and as was the way of loved knitted toys, he just fell apart eventually.

Teddy Edward was waiting in my cot for me when I was born. He is white with a dickie bow round his neck. He was also waiting in the cot ready for when my little boy was born. I will put him back in the loft soon to wait for any grandchildren that happen along in the future.

Also in the loft I have a variety of girls toys, silver cross coach built dolls pram, dolls, blackboard & easel etc.

My 3 main dolls were Linda, who could walk, and two baby dolls, one with blond hair and one with ginger hair who I thought were my twins. They are called Mandy and Samantha.

Well, I won't be having any more babies myself so I hope I get a little granddaughter one day......................

I had a big black doll called Topsy and my teddy was called Big Ted (I know, not very original)

Topsy still lives in my loft (I can't bear to part with her) but don't know what happened to Big Ted.

Also had a Little Ted, but he fell to bits and is long-gone!!

Oh dear... I'd better not tell you what I had, or what I called him! I'd be strung up!!
I just loved him so much, and when I got married and was moving abroad, my little sister was crying so much I gave him to her to look after for me! She took him to bed every night until she left home to do her nurses training when she was 19. I'm not sure what happened to him then. I must ask her.

My teddy was just Teddy....he used to growl when tipped forward. I still have him...he's 51yrs now, has lost the growl and has a stiff face, where I used to try and feed him flour and water mixed together.

Well this is wierd, I had a pink teddy bought me when I was very small, and I wouldn't have thought he would have had a name from me, unless my parents chose one, or I chose one when I could talk. The chap next door was called Keith altho I don't remember him much as he was a lot older than me so left home for Canada before I was a teenager, and I didn't know him well.
Poor Keithy is gone now, I think my Mum probably threw him out when I moved away for a while (she threw lots of my things away without asking or telling me. which upset me).
The funny thing is I am now living with someone of the same name lol He isn't pink and fluffy tho.

Teddy was called Ted and I still have him - he was 71 last Christmas and looks every day of it [hope I don't] and my black doll was called Farina - can't remember names of my other dolls. I also had an imaginary friend for years and she was called Panglina - parents never knew where I got the name from but one day my Dad was putting some horse bets on and there was a horse running called Panglina!! Can't remember if it won or not!

Vimmy (short for Vimto - the person who gave him to me worked with my mum and always had Vimto on her shopping lists). I've had him since I was 6 months old so he's a bit threadbare now but very much loved.

I had a cat called 'Immy Wivrum'! lol

He was not a toy, but a rather battered black Tom cat, he would let me put him into my dolls pram, cover him up & push him round the garden. Sometimes he even let me put a bonnet on him .
