Hello all of you lovely lovely peeps. Sorry l have'nt replied to the new messages.l had looked but thought l'd leave it for abit.

Linda - yeh l'm feeling bit better today and will tackle the websites,did'nt want to know too much info, cause you start thinking this could be me in time to come - have made notes of them. just seen this,im so sorry 2 here about your friend. your so right it is so wicked that someone of her age has come down with this.
from someone who has at time & still does work with people with Alzheimer's i no how hard it is for family & friends to watch loved ones go through it.

its a cruel diesease, and for all those who have to sit by and watch loved one turn from active loving person into almost reversed life
i hope your friends hubby has someone to help him too, he will lneed support too

Jude, My lovely Mum has this dreadful disease and has had it now for 8years. It is so distressing for the carer, and the family and friends. My OH's cousin has just been diagnosed with it as well and she is in her early 50's. Age has no barrier for this incurable disease and, like Linda McD I too fight with Alzheimer Society for the drug that gives them great help in the first stagesd. I could not have managed my Mum without it. The Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia with my Mum has gone too far now but, I will fight as much and long as I can for others to enable them to get this marvellous drug. (Aricept is what Mum had and also Respiridol)
If I can help in any way at all Jude I will. I do voluntary work now for Alzheimer's as they were so supportive to me when I needed it.

Yes you are right we do do a lot together. He is fine and coming with me to the Manchester meet on Saturday

Jude you are a good friend not like most of ours that we haven't seen for dust since we told them! You know I think that has hurt me more than the shock of the illness.

Support often comes from people you least expect it from.

I found that new friends like yourself accept Vic as he is and make allowances for him, whilst some of our long standing friends can't come to terms with it.

Awww bless you Linda - just having a few more sad moments for her.l will look at all the sites and tell them - yes l'm sure they have a computer, think she needed it for her work.

Hi Jude

Only just seen this and as you know my husband had this cruel condition.

There is a wealth of support out there for your friend through the Alzheimer's society if she or her husband can use a computer they can use TP (Talking Point) a wonderful way to learn from others in this situation not just the carers but the ones living with the condition.

Only last month I attended with Vic the 2nd UK Convention for people with Dementia and the whole day was run by those with the illness. It was uplifting and inspiring and so worthwhile.

Young Onset is MUCH more common than people think. I meet regularly with a group who are all aged between 40-55 and hear how they deal with it.

Please tell your friend to register on the ALZ site and get the support she needs.

Sorry to hear about your friend Jude. I work with the elderly and have seen what this can do to people, but to get it so young is terrible.

Love to your friend and her family. Please tell them to get all the help that is available.

What a cruel thing to happen to your friend Jude......and so young too.......I do know of someone who was diagnosed at 60 and there is a support group in his area where the families can go to discuss their problems......and to socialise too....

Perhaps there is a group like this where they live, it is set up for younger Altzheimers (sp) sufferers.....I hope you can pass on our good wishes to your friend and family......x

In the case of Alzheimers the brain cells die at a massively accelerated rate.................leading to loss of cognitive reasoning, memories of names, places and people........then speech and movement and the swallow reflex.

A horrible thing to suffer and watch....................none of the theories fit Mum's profile.

She was very active, intelligent, sociable and never smoked.............she had a social drink occassionally and had a really healthy diet.

She did everything right.....yet Alzheimers has her in its grip..................not fair, but we have to make the most of every smile and every happy or calm moment we have her.

No matter what................I am immensely proud of her and love her to pieces, always have and always will.

It is early days for your friend ..................take it one step at a time.

We read in yesterdays Daily Mail that a baby of only13months has it, god that is horrible and so cruel and just one month older than my granddaughter! Why are all these horrific deseases so prolific, is it the way we live as in the food we eat, the chemicals we use etc
