Hello Jean,

Glad that you have been able to get this off your chest and tell us all how you are feeling.

Only yesterday on television I watched and listened to this lady who, over the last three years has lost 22stst. She was 38st and food was the be all and end all for her.
Her wake up call came one day when she fell over and was just unable to get herself up again.

Is this your wake-up call?

Hoping most sincerely that everything goes well for you whatever YOU decide to do. It is only you that can do the changing.

Jean,
Just do your best. Don,t try too hard. Lastly, and this will seem cruel, get your mind off yourself and your storm will blow itself out to an acceptable degree.

Very best wishes.

Happy days

Hi Jean, as has been said, amazingly brave and a very big step to take posting like that - and having taken that first step you are now on your way to whichever option you choose. Obviously everyone you know loves you to bits, problem is you don't seem to love yourself at the moment do you. Your family, friends and us on here would not dream of judging you or anyone else on their outside appearance - it's what's inside that makes a person lovely, and you are so obviously lovely as well as very brave indeed. Now whatever you decide, we will all be with you on it. Perhaps you might like to switch threads and hop on to the depression/anxiety one as there are a lot of other very brave people on there who all supoport each other through all sorts of problems - we'd love to see you on that thread - we've got around a thousand postings on it now and it really is very inspirational indeed. Lots of love and big hugs, Ann XXXX

Firsly Jean, hi and secondly, I want to say what an amazingly brave lady you are.

You have overcome so many things and still have the strength of spirit to put your feelings into words, that is incredibly admirable. From someone who wears their heart on their sleeve { me } I respect your post greatly.

As for any advice I would get several opinions then you can make a truly informed choice,

Love and hugs hun, PM anytime,

Jean, I admire you for having the courage to post such deeply personal feelings. Good on ya girl.

Secondly, you ask how people can love you as you are. I can tell you. It's because they see ALL of you, as a whole person, that is, they love you for who you are, for what is in your heart, in your mind and in your very being. Try to remember that my love, they love you for the same reasons as you love them.

Good luck with the weight loss, you may not know it but I feel you have the inner strength do it. Its not going to be easy, but you CAN do it.

You sound a lovely person, allow yourself to be yourself.

I can't add anything to what has already been said but I just wanted to wish you luck in what you choose to do. You are obviously much loved by your family so you must be likeable to them. try to like yourself to recover your self esteem, list your good points, you have them because you would not be so loved by your family if you didn't. And please keep us informed with your decision, we are all here for you.

Hi Jean

I am currently on the waiting list for gastric banding at Hope Hospital (we must live in the same area!). I have around 4 stone to lose and was delighted when the surgeon agreed.

I am a diabetic and this is the reason he has agreed. He said as I am only young (43!!) they weigh up the likely risks and advantages, and my diabetes will probably clear and I should have a good many years ahead of me without it.

I have got to see a dietician and a psychologist first though to make sure I don't have any underlying problems. I am nervous but quite looking forward to it.

If it is agreed you can have the banding, and I get to have mine first, I will keep you informed every step of the way.

Best wishes

Carol

Jean.

Nobody can decide for you, but remember all surgery carries risks. I myslef am having major surgery in 3wks, and feel very frightened, but have been told that anaesthetic nowadays is administered according to the patients own needs.

Your are obviously a very loving person, otherwise you would not have been lucky to have had another chance at love rom what souns like a lovely man. He and your children love you so very much, and accept you for who you are, not what you are. I to saw Charlie on This Morning, and he is back on each week, not sure of which day, as he goes for surgery to remove his excess skin that has been left after his weight loss. He lost about 30 stone.

You will receive pyschological treatment before your op if you ask your doc.

I wish you the very best in whatever you decide to do. You have taken a great big leap forward by expressing your feelings and fears, and remember that you have friends here who are willing to listen to you, and give you support. Please keep us posted.

Regards

Vic xx
