Joy it was just a cloud, no particular shape to it. We wondered what the heck it was, scared the daylights out of us what with the coughing etc as well.

Well its evening where I am, so will tell you about my "Ghost"
Many years back when I was in 5th year at school we had to do the Duke of Edinburgh awards, for part of that we had to camp out in the school quadrangle (ie grass with an open corridor around it, classrooms off that corridor).
Well boys being boys, as night fell and we became bored, we thought it would be a good idea to climb on top of the corridor and from that onto the classroom roof. (single story classes)

When we all managed to get onto the roof, and decided it was time to climb down again as we were doing so, many of us saw a "cloud" moving along the corridor outside one of the classrooms. Being a little nervous and not being able to explain the cloud, we all quickly got down and ran back to our tents. Ten minutes later we could hear coughing and heavy breathing and the sound of a classroom door banging. After the sounds subsided, we bravely (or foolishly) decided to take a look around. We checked every door and they were all locked, could not explain it.

In the morning after what turned out to be an eventful night, we went to see the headmaster, he could obviously not explain it either. After some investigation, the head informed us that an old deputy head had died in school years previously and he wondered if it may have been him. His classroom was next to where we saw the cloud, and before he died, he had respiratory problems!!!!!!!

You want scary stories, you should have seen most haunted last night! That was scary when they were doing the ouija with the ghost of a black witch, and suddenly the camaraman 'fell' through the door...jsut like that! When it went on to webcam it really looked like he had been yanked through the door from behind, and violently. He was really shaken up too.
