ive heard its very good,

ive had morphine in hospital but thats different strength i think does make you high and bit giggly but takes away the pain,
i wanted that for the head pain i had but they wouldnt even give me the full dose of tramadol i take, they gave me one - thats 1 tablet, every six hours
hope it helps you anyway,

i think if i took that id have to stop work, and i dont really wana do that yet

you may find that the drugs for ra (methotrexate) will help so much that you won't morphine, know a few people onit, and they are much more mobile and pain free now

Hi Puss, my fingers are well and truly crossed for you.

I still have to wait for final confirmation, (scans etc next week) but I have recently been diagnosed with RA. The scans are because GP reckons something else might be going on alongside.

I have read all the bumf, am awaiting appointment with Rheumatologist, but as I am not severe, I am not a priority, lol.

At the moment mine is managed by painkillers (I cannot take the anti inflammatories as I am allergic) and steroids every so often when things are getting bad. The thing is, with RA it can have different levels of severity, and fortunately mine is not too bad. That is not to say it won't get worse as I get older, lol

What I have decided to do is to run with pain relief and steroids when required. The side effects of some of the other drugs at my level of the condition would be worse than the RA. That might need to change in the future, but for now it suits.

Oh hecky thump, I don't think I've answered your question!!

Love
Daff xx

thanks all i so there is different options for arthritis thats good, just hope my exrays are back then a decion can be made, , julie i really admire you and ann, for keeping working this must be so difficult as i know the tramodol, does help but i sleep half the day lol, so working would be out of the question
unless there is a job for a proffessional snorer
julie i said yesterday the head pain is horrendous and hope they find nothing serious wrong and it is the fm, i had this last week and it was nearly as much as i could take so good luck for that xx

MrDaff Report 16 Sep 2007 12:56

lol Stella.. mine is a fairly new diagnosis, so I have not really got my head around it.. my previous gp just told me that everything was due to my time of life, and I just had to get on with it, lol. I had a stroke when I was young slim and in my 30's, so those drugs have always needed to be a priority!! No HRT for me, and many of the drugs for RA etc can also raise BP, but I manage it quite well.

The one thing is that I am not unwell enough to receive DA, but in order to manage everything I didn't feel I could commit to a job. Hubby has been brilliant, so I am now officially a kept woman. This means that when I am good, I zoom around the countryside strutting my stuff like a 5 year old, and when I'm not so good, I huddle away indoors, sleep when I want, and basically just hibernate.

i have to take bp pills daff coz my damaged kidneys put it up and water tabs aswell as holes in kidneys allow water to seep into tissues what a state to be in , i even take pills to counteract the side effects of the pills i take lol
god, i am getting old!!

daff, did you know that when you apply for da they always turn you down on the first application, pm me if you want to know more, i have been there

MrDaff

MrDaff Report 16 Sep 2007 13:21

Thanks for that Stella... I haven't applied for it, to be honest!

Part of my job used to be filling in all the application forms for the residents (I was for a while manager of a residential home for profoundly disabled (but not always physically disabled) young adults) and I had some horrendous ding dongs trying to get the appropriate levels of Allowance!!

Technically, my situation is currently managable, and technically, I should be able to hold down a job of one sort or another. But the reality is that I am a bit all or nothing, and it would stress me right out if I couldn't give 150% to my job!! That makes me so much worse.

Thanks again for your offer.. but I have a sneaky feeling that part of me adjusting to the diagnosis is not to accept the full impact of needing the DA etc! Sticking my head in the sand, a bit, I know, lol
