Hi Teresa,
I think the new look is great, don't know what people are moaning about, and it's easy to navigate.

Lynne, in your account details, if you scroll down the page a little, you will also see a line for your community name.

I think you have a valid point, Teresa. My only complaint is that looking at the screen is making me feel sick...but I think it may be the Trifle I just wolfed.....BC XXX

It is good to see that the faults are being fixed.

One of the problem is that you can never please everyone all of the time, indeed there appear to be those who will never be satisfied no matter what you do.

I think we also need to differentiate between real faults and likes and dislikes. I have always taken the view in my professional career as an analyst that all faults should be sorted at the earliest opportunity. Even then, the cost / benefit needs to be taken into account, especially if there is a workaround.

Changing something just because someone dislikes it is much harder to justify.

I can count many people over the years who have complained that they didn't like the look of something, then a couple of weeks later thought it was the best thing since the proverbial sliced bread, and over their dead body to go back to the old version.

A number of people have suggested not to fix something if it aint broke. I'm afraid if you take this view you soon go out of business, especially in the computer world were things can change overnight. I for one wouldn't want to have a PC that could only run DOS programs, or would even want to back to Windows 3, and how many who have struggled to get their broadband up and running would willingly go back to dial-up?

Gwynne, I agree with that point and I wasn't actually referring to it, of course people should know about that.

What I'm talking about is the countless threads about not liking the site, this is wrong that is wrong, I don't like blah blah etc. Look back over the last day and there are countless threads saying the same thing.

Of course we all have a right to put our opinion forward, and to discuss it on the site amongst ourselves, (mostly because we get the answers faster than going to GR lol), but...it is the sheer number of threads all saying the same thing that is shoving other topics into oblivion.

I hope that makes sense an not sounding like a good moan lol

I'm not that unfriendly, honest!

Nolls, if you go into my account, and scroll down slightly you'll see that there is a new section for you Community (ie board) name. This should sort out the problem of maiden/birth names showing when people would prefer them not to. Don't forget to press save!! lol

Gwynne, I haven't seen that happen, with any of my posts, and of course I wouldn't know if someone else's name was put as the author of a post they had nothing to do with.
At least by notifying GR, you have alerted them to it. They do seem to be fixing most of the problems people have highlighted, so my hat is off to them just now, and hopefully they have it in hand.

I think it's important that people know that their names appear beside things they didn't post - I don't think that counts as moaning.

I have notified GR but until it's fixed it's something we need to be aware of.

Hear, hear.

There haven't been to many real faults and feedback is the way to get them fixed as is being shown now, not whinging. I'm sure the maiden name thing was an oversight, not deliberate.

The background doesn't bother me, in fact I prefer it. Perhaps what is needed is an option to cusomise it to individual preference, as changing it globally is bound to upset others.

Hi TW,

Maybe all the bits are to be sorted &ironed out but maybe would have been done quicker had they shut the shop for a day or so ,,but they only shut down for about a an hour or so to get things up and running, and there was the usual,,,,,,perhaps the background colour is next on thier list,,just doing one thing at a time, and plus they have to run test to make sure its all ok,,,

Exactly Kay.

Reading back over my original post, I sound like I dont' like a lot about the new look site, but thats not the case.

Once we have all got used to it, I am certain we will all find it much easier to use. The background colour is the only issue I have with it so far.

They obviously didn't realise that maiden names were showing and are dealing with it, not because it was put up on the boards, but because itwas sent to them through feedback.

Thank God for sanity,,,,,,,,,,if only people would wait and see what is to take place they may never want the old version,it must be hard to update and not close the site down altogether,,,,,,give them chance,,to complete,,,,
