Hi Ann, I hope all goes well for you, and your appointment comes through soon. I won't tell you not to worry, it would be hard not to. But if it has been there for 10 years and hasn't spread then the likelihood is that it is ok. These precautionary tests are worrying though, aren't they? |

Try not to worry Ann. You obviously have a good doctor, and he is really looking after you. Better safe than sorry, good motto for a doctor. Deanna X |

Well, the BP was good, better than it has ever been in fact 121/76, so nothing to worry about there. As usual I had several things to ask him so next the fact that I was breathless sometimes although not after exertion. Had to blow into the pipe thing for three different blows to register. Fairly low he says, it is probably a mild asthma connected to hay fever (both my parents suffered with hay fever), I could manage it myself or have an inhaler. I decided I will manage it unless it gets worse. Then he notes I haven’t had a blood test for two years and my cholesterol was slightly high then so – book a starving blood test (Friday 17th) Then I showed him patches I have on my hands – if it itches it is probably eczema he says. Then I showed him a patch like a lesion that I have on my trunk. It has been there for 30 years since I had an allergy from a biological washing powder. It has been the same size and a bit ‘lumpy’ for the previous ten years and my last doctor, who was an old fashioned doctor, just said if it had been there that long nothing to worry about. However it does itch and of course I scratch and it bleeds. This doctor looks worriedly at it and says I am going to make an urgent appointment with a dermatologist. (Before you go on holiday on 2 September) So, from feeling more or less healthy (I didn’t then dare mention my back!) I am now petrified that he thinks I have skin cancer or something equally nasty. I shall now wait for my urgent appointment. (bearing in mind that it has been the same for ten years have I been living with a time bomb? And why was my previous doctor not bothered?) Not a happy bunny now! Ann Glos |
