I'm not offended by anyone's opinion on this, even if I was in a minority of one I would still feel the same....... and I absolutely respect everyone else's viewpoint too. I am pleased that on this thread we seem to be respecting each others thoughts and ideas. x

I am so sick of this thread. there has been no fun on here for a couple of days.... and that is why I come on. To chat and laugh with my friends. Let me tell you something which may make some of you think.... I used to look after my granddaughters while their mother worked Friday and Saturday.... she was doing a degree at the time. I woke up one night and my eldest grandaughter was on her way out of the door!! We were all asleep, and SO WAS SHE!! I was lucky I woke up... God alone knows what would have been said about my prowes as a grandmother, had I not woken up, and my daughters little girl had gone missing in my care??? Never judge anyone until you know all the facts. Deanna X

Linda Report 11 Aug 2007 17:50

The McCannes are guilty of leaving their children unattended. That is a fact. Fact is they know that, and must have said a thousand what ifs, and I wish I/we's. Fact is they are human and as humans we make mistakes. At this moment in time a mistake is all they have made. I reserve my judgement of the McCannes until proof is sought that they killed their child. Until then I give them my support, as little and meaningless as it is.

Hi David, I am glad I haven't offended you as it is not my intention to do so. Believe me I hope for that sweet little girl's safe return as I know everyone on this board does. Rosexx

As a matter of fact! a) The police DO NOT believe that the parents are involved. b) According to the police, it is POSSIBLE that they are now looking for a dead body. As for guilt! Who amongst us are perfect? God help the Mc Cann's! Lindy

Linda you are right when you say 'they are human and as humans we make mistakes. At this moment in time a mistake is all they have made.' But mistakes are accidental, not usually deliberately carried out. They chose to go out, enjoy entertainment and a meal with their friends and leave their three little children alone. It wasn't a mistake it was a deliberate conscious decision that they took that night and who knows whether it was the same on any previous nights. I have said before and will say again, I do not believe that any person could manufacture the disappearance/abduction of their child. At the moment I do not feel that they have had any involvement in this situation and will not think so until there is hard and fast evidence that is so. I hope they are regretting their decision, I hope they do have the whole thing mulling over in their minds all the time and I feel that way because Madeleine will be, as I have already said she knows she is not with her mummy, daddy, sister, brother, grandparents, aunties and uncles or cousins or indeed any of her friends, she is somewhere she doesn't want to be because her parents left her with her young brother and sister for the sake of a night out when there were creche facilities available. One final point: Why did it take a couple of days for us to hear about the abduction/disappearance of Madeleine? Why didn't the news filter over here sooner? Lyn x

So ! We are now told by the Portuguese police that the McCanns are not suspects as to their daughter's demise ...... whatever that may be ! Yet for several days the most self proclaimed respectability of the Portuguese media have been plying the rest of the world with suggestion, innuendo and downright accusation of the McCann's involvement in the disappearance of Maddy. And all, suggestively, based upon information leaked from the investigating team. The words creek and paddle spring instantly to mind. And what's more, can any of us now take any more of these seemingly endless quotes from the Portuguese press at face value ? And why is it, that with the involvement of British police, the investigation has taken on a more formal relationship with the McCanns and the media ? I am most impressed by the assertion of the Portuguese police that Maddy might be dead ...................... for the 50/50 alternative is that .......................she might still be alive !
