did I electrocute my modem?

Sounds about right Mellisa i had a fried telly a few years ago when lightning hit the wire outside the window .When i go away now i unplug modem, telephone ,t/v just to be on the safe side.Fred.ptfg. |

That would be it. That's why you shouldn't stay on the phone (unless a remote) during a lightening storm. Heaps of people have died that way. Lucky it was only the modem and not the whole thing. Mel:-) Okay Dad, we'll agree to differ. :-) |

Before I went on Holiday I unpluged my pc at the socket as I usually do and I my return plugged it back in, I tried to connect to the net...nothing and tonight I had to have another modem fitted. It was ok the night before my holiday and the only thing I can think of is that I didn't take out the phone socket so could I have had a shock come down the phone line? Lynn |
