My ex husbands ancestor was David Hartley. He was the leader of a gang called the Yorkshire Coiners and he was hung for is part in the muder of a tax inspector. (I always thought there was something funny about my ex lol) only kidding he is a nice fella. |

Several probably! We came from a Scottish clan that definitely did some awful things down in the glens...........Glen Coe(?) for instant. But that was on my Dad's side - Mum has the Philatelist to the King as a distant relation! Puts a slightly more respectable 'stamp' on my heritage!! Dilys |

Only my Mealing great-grand uncle who cut his fiancee's throat in 1862 and spent the rest of his life in Broadmoor - 46 years. Although it was a very sad story - the poor chap was mad - it gave me lots of info as I have the press reports of the crime and the words his mother (my gt gt gt grandmother) spoke at the time. nell |
