I'll ask my friend Carol, she grew up in Folkestone. It sounds quite a place!! |

Hi Gwyneth, thanks for the tip. I do visit Folkestone from time to time so will be able to check out the library easily. I was also hoping to get some personal stories for a bit of colour, hence the message on the board! |

Where do you live Stephanie, anywhere near Folkestone.? You could ask in the library or contact the local paper The Herald who may have something in their archives. |

Does anyone remember a pub in Christ Church Road, Folkestone called the Westcliffe Shades? I am looking for any anecdotes or photographs from anyone who frequented this hostelry, particularly patrons of the Back Bar in the 1970's. The pub now exists as the Happy Frenchman but so many friends still rave about 'the good old days' in the Shades, we think it deserves a little attention! |
