Des O'Connor has become a father at the age of 72. Does anyone have some rellies who can beat this? Crista

I thought you meant at singing! I don't think there's a category in the GBofR for that, there is for oldest mother.

I have a rellie who fathered a child at the age of 78!!! His wife was 36. They had 'lived in sin' for about 10 years before they married in 1896. Pat

Pat, I think you take the lead. What was his occupation if you don't mind me asking? Was he rich and famous? Crista

Not related to him but Charlie Chaplin springs to mind! Surprising what these geriatric fathers today can do if they ditch the first wives and get themselves younger ones.........! But, sadly, men just don't age (bodily) like us - but they age far quicker in their minds than women, some consolation!!

I seem to remember reading one of the original Star Trek members fathered a child in his 80's. Only read it again about a week ago. Diane

Why do you want to beat Des O'connor, What's he done to you Sorry, couldn't resist Rose

I'm not beating up Des but I feel so sorry for his little son - with a Dad old enough to be his great grandad! Nobody seems to think about the children these days. I can't believe that women in their late fifties would go thro' so much 'reversal' of their bodies, to have a baby so late.........it's not all about what we want, is it?
