Has anyone ordered a WW1 medal card from the PRO? What info is on there? Does it show the date and/or place of birth? My friend is looking for details of her grandfather, Norris Sadler, and I have found him, I hope, on the PRO medal cards listings. She wants to know if it is worth ordering the record and if it will give her any more info about him as she can't find his birth or marriage record. Thanks Sue |

Yep, I ordered one £3.50 - Gives Name, Corps, Rank, Regimental Number, any medals, theatre of war - mine says 3, there are others on my sheet (6 per sheet) No idea where 3 was - he must have seen action because he was shot and gassed. The date of entry seems to be wrong - 2.7.29 |

What you get for your £3.50 is a page with 6 cards, one of which will be your relative. My relie (a half-great-uncle) just had his name, regiment and two medals he was entitled to, but other cards on the same page gave details about when the person signed up, whether they were wounded out of the army etc. It doesn't give dob. nell |

Thanks for all your replies. I have read what it says on the site, but just wanted to know if anyone had actually got any cards as sometimes what is stated and what is real are two different things! Thanks again all of you, my friend is going to order the one for her grandfather. Sue |
