yep i agree wit that one!! i try and be as honest as possible (well sometimes i will tell tiny porkies) but being honest all the time can get me into trouble!!!

I rememebr a Christmas party a few years ago, we went for an extended lunch with another group covering our phones. After a couple of hours my team leader asked me, as the most sober one there, who was capable of work. I answered probably just me - at which point I was sent back to the office and everyone else stayed in the pub ! TYPICAL ! lol

my mates are going to a works quiz night this week and my boss said that the area managers are there as well so when they call them w****rs they don't takke it to heart as there all too tanked up to remember.maybe i'll have to go next time and remind my boss about what he said he calls the area managers and that we call them the same in jest!!!!xxx(:

Problem is Rosemary that an Alcoholic will drink whether the rules say thay can't or not. I like to think I'm a fairly responsible person, and would never dream of going into work worse the wear - I don't even drink when I'm on call, just in case - BUT... in my opinion, I would still be able to perform my job if I had one drink down the pub at lunchtime. I guess the problem is many people woudn't be able to stop at the one.

I suppose it was just that I had such a bad experience in that office and honestly we were treated like sh -t by the other departments. It was a horrible place to work. Rose

In my experience of working with an alcholic who arrived at work with a bottle of orange juice already laced strongly with vodka; I would ban any use of alcohol in the work place. This woman was head of my department and dealing with the public. By mid morning she was swearing. She was an acute embarrassment to all who had to work with her as we were all teated by other departments as if we were the same as her. I left as soon as I could. Alcohol is also to blame for office affairs and lewd behavoiur at office parties. I have seen people on the floors of offices making out. They would never have behaved like this if they had not been drunk. The police know only too well how inhibitions are dropped and how those arrested for offensive behavoiur and spend the night in jail are shocked and apologetic to the police the following morning. They are ashamed by their behavoiur Moderation in all things. Enjoy your drink, but keep your self respect. If you don't respect yourself don't expect others to respect you. Rose

Donna - trust you ! On a serious note - it's actually a sackable offence in my company to drink during working hours. So no "swift half" down the pub on a Friday :( I'm not for a moment advocating getting lfgless during working hours, but I do miss the social aspect of the occasional pub lunch - used to go on average once a week (OK, maybe twice :) at my last company.

Someone just emailed me this! -x- 1. It's an incentive to show up. 2. It reduces stress. 3. It leads to more honest communications. 4. It reduces complaints about low pay. 5. It cuts down on time off because you can work with a hangover. 6. Employees tell management what they think, not what management wants to hear. 7. It helps save on heating costs in the winter. 8. It encourages carpooling. 9. Increases job satisfaction because if you have a bad job you don't care. 10. It eliminates vacations because people would rather come to work. 11. It makes fellow employees look better. 12. It makes the cafeteria food taste better. 13. Bosses are more likely to hand out raises when they are wasted. 14. Salary negotiations are a lot more profitable. 15. If something does something stupid on the job, it will be quickly forgotten.
