does any one know what this Java VM is all about are there alternatives we can download so we can continue to use chat rooms etc? |

Java applets are in use in many web applicatons, most notably chatroom slints and games. The Java VM (Virtual Machine) is the bit of software that sits on your PC and allows you to run the "applets". Mine broke a while ago too, so I downloaded a new version. I'm pretty sure I got it from www(.)sun(.)com (sun wrote Java). |

i read somewhere the sun version is beta and slows the system down is this true? |

sun wrote the thing in the first place. I think you can get a "live" version and a beta version too - the release lots of Beta's You might be able to download the microsoft version from their website if you prefer. |
