Saw her again on Saturday (we see them about every 2 - 3 months) and she's still deteriorating. Noticeable change since the end of November. No more to say really, just needed to share my frustration at not being able to do anything to stop it.

Hello Brian - l am so sorry to hear about your friend. l did'nt really know much about Parkinson disease until reading this thread. A work colleague had it but it was at the very early stages, her main problem at that time was tiredness and being unsteady on her feet. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Jude sarf wales

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. Well, they came last night and she was as bad as I feared, but still thinking positively. Main problem now, apart from the very slow moving (much worse han my 83 year old mother in law) is the throat muscle problems that can lead to fluid going into the lungs rather than down the gullet. But keep those prayers coming.

Hi Brian, My dad is 66 and has had it for around 10 years now. I live 70 miles away and only see them every couple of months. The past 2 years the disease has really taken a hold on him. He was a fit active man, a milkman for over 30 years. Did all his own decorating and gardening. Now he can barely walk, has to go upstairs on all fours and his speech is getting quite bad. I can hardly recognise the man he once was anymore. It has had a really bad effect on my mum. She has very high blood pressure and diabetes. She has been really down lately. I got back from a week away tonight and called her. She had been to the hospital today regarding a pain in her arm, she's had this for over 2 years and not pushed for anything to be investigated!! The doctor had her in for an hour giving her a thorough going over and she now has to go for a ct scan and other tests, mum thinks the word used was lymphoma, I hope to god she is wrong! Apparently it won't get any better and she will have to use painkillers for the pain. The doctor said her blood pressure was sky high and put her on another tablet, after she has that she has to lie still for an hour. total rest. I am really concerned for her. The doctor said she has to have the bp checked every day. When my sister took her round the doctors on the way back to sort that out, he said she didn't need that and offered to do it once a fortnight!!! After much arguing agreed to send a nurse round once a week. Is this what we are paying into the nhs for. We now have a battle on our hands to get the treatment she needs. She is only 65. I would really appreciate your prayers for my mum and dad too. Sorry Brian for being negative. Diane ps they also live near Romford in Chadwell Heath

Brian, My Anutie has it, but she is brill! Can't get through a doorway but give her open space and I can't keep up with her! and she still makes the best battered fish you could taste. Took her on a cemetery search (as you do!) and she saw more than I did, I had to write every everything down but she remembered all the trancriptions that I had missed!

Brian, So sorry to hear about Heather. My father had Parkinsons Disease 20 years ago. He was 66 at the time and had just retired. The drugs he had to take had dreadful side effects. However, in the last few years they have made enormous progress with this disease and can now control it to a certain extent. My thoughts are with Heather and I wish her all the best. Jean x.

Best wishes for your friend Brian and all those supporting her. One of colleagues with whom I worked with for a few years had this awful condition which started when she was about 40 and her youngest child only 2. She stayed with us as long as possible but found working too difficult eventually. I hope a cure is found soon. Jacky

Brian Give all our best and a big hugs to your friend and her hubby. I really feel for both of them. A friend of ours has Parkinson's, origianally the medical people told him he was too young and spent five year trying to find something else. He was a great study case for me when I was training a couple of years ago for Body Massage. The weekly massage session really did help him. Wendy
