Had a brill day today. Met my 2nd cuz, who contacted me via GR, and his auntie, my Dad's cousin. She had so much to show! I only got there for the last 2 hours, and they were fantastic. She even had a photo of our Gt Graddad with my dad and his sister (who was my godmother) when they were little! Funeral cards with the grave plot numbers, and loads of other photo's, can't wait for him to send me copies. Also, can't wait to ring my Dad tomorrow and tell him all about it, and everyone else who will listen! Kim ****** I sent a random letter to people in a Welsh village with the surname of my grandad (on my mother's side this time) and this morning, my grandad's cousin has rung me!!! If my head wasn't spinning enough yesterday it sure is now! Get those letters sent out you lot!!! regards the happiest person on this board!!! |

Thanks Julie, My Dad will be really chuffed. They were both such lovely people. Really hope though, that I did not commander the last 2 hours too much, I just wanted to say and find out so much from them, wish it could have been longer. Kim |

Kim. I can imagine how you feel because I remember my 'high' when I met my second cousin for the first time. She lived in the town where my grandfather was born and had been the person who had been left with all the old family photos. I hadn't ever thought possible that I would see what my great grandfather looked like but she had a wonderful photo of him,- reminding me of Captain Birdseye-with his 4 sons.... So pleased for you. |

Bit of a downer this afternoon! rang my dad to tell him about yesterday, I was soo excited, and at 1st he was really enthusiastic, but as soon as soon as my step sister turned up, zilch!!! cut me right off! But rang my Aunt about the phone call I had this morning from Wales and she really made up for my dad!! she was just as excited as me!! as my grandad's cousin, who's 80, remembered her, suppose it made a difference!! Still on a high regardless of how rellies react, this is my mission anyway!!!! Kim |

Kim, hi! I've just read your update - fancy having all that excitement two days in a row! I know how you're feeling, have been there myself, and it's wonderful. Don't take any notice of how anybody else reacts, it might just be all a bit much for your dad to take in at the moment - you just keep up there on cloud nine! Thrilled for you, hugs, Mandy :) |

Cheers Mandy, Still reeling! now on a mission to get to Wales, my granddad's cousin is 80, he said he might not be around by next year, so I told him, he had better be, now we have got in touch he is not pegging out on me yet, well not until I have seen him in person! don't think he knew how how to take me, but he did laugh!! He has already done a cemetery search for me, checked the grave stone of my gt granny, and also lives in the house next door to were my grandad was born! He remembers my nana also my mum & aunties. Can't wait to meet him and see the village Kim x |
