I would go back to days of Ancient Egypt when Tutankhamun was pharoah! Then I would jump forward to meet William Wallace before going for a little trip on the Titanic! Bev

Just looked at this thread again and realised we were also asked to look to the future. Well, I'd like to go forward just a little to Sunday, 24th April and see how on earth I'm going to find my ancestors' graves in the 88 acres of Bishopwearmouth Cemetery! LoL I'd also like to see forward to some improbably remote time when my son can afford a home of his own - not that I want to be rid of him, but because it would be better for him. Margaret, I'd love to know - What would have been the fate of the Roman Empire if the German contingent had stayed with Spartacus's main army? Would each of us be researching hundreds more ancestors if The Black Death hadn't struck in the Middle Ages? What if Herr and Frau Schickelgruber (Hitler's parents) had never met? Whitehall Whatchamacallit, Agree on Custer, etc. Would the USA now be populated by bison instead of people? Andy, You'd have loved London in the 60s/70s. Not sure about the 1880s music, though - Led Zep plays Gilbert & Sullivan and The Who at the D'Oyley Carte? LoL CB>|<

Dave, thank you. I didn't put that on to be sad and morbid though - just truthful. I'm 27 - but wouldn't have thought so considering I called him 'daddy' on my message! xx

Me? I'd go back to the 1970's at any time when my grandmother was burbling on about her Irish ancestry. How many trips to I get? Dave

Bec Report 17 Feb 2005 00:22

Great question. I'd love to go back to January 1981 and meet my grandfather, he died at the end of the month and I was born the next year (his first grandchild). I'd also like to go back a few weeks/months and change some naughty things I did :-S Becx

Andy Report 17 Feb 2005 00:15

To last Saturday so I can try and work out how I managed to get lost after leaving the pub :-)) To the late 60s/early 70s and see Led Zeppelin, The Who, etc and feel a part of the music scene around then. My nan was still alive then and I would like to get to know her as she died when I was less than a year old. To the 1880s, if only to get a glimpse of life around then for my gt-grandfather who ran a music shop, and to ask him what the hell happened to his first daughter as she's destined to elude me forever from 1881 onwards. Oh and to April, this year for the next GR meets, lol.

Paris in the late 19th/early 20th century - to meet all the famous artists. Or St Petersburg in the late 19th century - to meet Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky. CB >|<

Darren - I'm with you on the history thing (even if you are a Boro fan, lol!) I was thinking of a trip back to see Stonehenge being built; to see what the Spanish Armada looked like; would love to visit the Great Exhibition in 1851; and would like to sail (1st class) on one of the great liners in their heyday (not Titanic!)
