If there are going to be a lot of us we really only have about 4 choices. There is Regent's Park with boating, open air theatre Zoo etc. But a long way from the West End. Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens with the Serpentine, Diana Memorial (Memo bring splints and plasters) and the Peter Pan Statue. Easy access to Oxford Street, Kensington Museums, Park Lane for you POSH ones who are staying the night, Edgeware Road and Bayswater Road. Green Park Nothing really to do, Just grass but right by Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square and Regent Street. St James's Park with a lake and right by Trafalgar Square, Whitehall and The Strand. We could make rude gestures towards the Prime Minister's House. Discussion starts now. |

Hi Jim, thought I would look at it more closely a bit nearer the time. Those with kids won't want to drag them on and off too many different types of public transport for one thing, and then we need to be somewhere with space for a game of footie or rounders without trampling others underfoot! Oh and child-free adults will be MOST welcome, as long as they pitch in to help keep the kids occupied !!! Maz. XX |

Have just read in the paper that the new Live Aid will be held in Hyde Park on the weekend of 2nd July, so that is definitely off our list of possible dates! Please can anyone who is interested (you don't HAVE to bring kids!) add on this thread which Saturdays in July/August they CANNOT make. Then I will make a decision and let you all know. Just borrowed a new book from the lib which is all about London's parks, so maybe I will find something really exciting that will add to the day! Maz. XX |
