Try putting an add in your local newspaper, they should have a section where it is free of charge for lost and found animal's, worked for me a while back!!!! good luck. julie.

Still no news yet. Am just off to bed but doubt if I will sleep much - cant eat much either but wouldnt recommend the diet to anyone!!!! Millie (Alfies mum) is sitting next to the keyboard and helping me type this - she seems to have gone off her food as well. Tomorrow is the day for knocking on doors, while carrying the cat basket, to try to get the neighbours to check their sheds etc. I have been really pleasantly surprised by the number of people in the village who have phoned or said they will help to look for him. Thanks again everyone for your concern. Will be here with any news tomorrow. Jill

It was so cold last night . Someone may have seen Alfie and taken him in,thinking he was lost? It happened to my sons cat once. Perhaps he'll be back when they let him out in the garden. He'll be back. Deanna x

No news yet but i am just off out to put more posters through letter boxes. Someone came to the house earlier saying they thought they had seen him near a farm round the corner from us. We went and had a look but it wasnt him although it could have been his brother as he looked very like him. Thanks for all your kind thoughts and I will let you know if there any developments. Jill

It's a frustrating time for you, I know. My cat dissapeared for six weeks and she came back. I've no idea where she had been. Keep positive. Jo.

Know just how you feel, ours disappeared a year ago, she was ill and on meds so we were desperately worried. Daughter and I went round putting notes thru letterboxes and posters on lampposts - little madam came home that night! We also posted her on some online petsearch sites - might be worth doing, you can upload a photo too. I do feel for you - hope pussycat comes home soon. Big hug from Lisa

I am sure Alfie is OK - he may have got shut in a shed.Ask all your friends. That was where our little one was when she got lost in a high gale. All night long I kept thinking I could hear her,but the wind was so high I could not locate where her tiny mew was coming from.I walked for hours looking in grdens etc. She turned up the next morning. She had been 2 doors up all night.Quite safe. Alfie will be fine-Rose

Thanks for all the kind thoughts and advice. Margaret in Hertfordshire - thanks for the website and have had a look. Although it is not my area they had some great advice about who to notify so will be doing all of that first thing tomorrow. The terrible thing about this is that I have not been able to have cats for the last twelve years because of the places I have been living in so when we moved to this small village it was the ideal opportunity. Alfie is a rescue cat who had been born and lived his whole life in a rescue centre so it was wonderful to watch him venture out on his own for the first time and explore everything! I think I will be knocking on doors tomorrow. Even my other half, who has always been a dog person, has been out searching and putting up posters and even getting a bit tearful himself. Thanks again guys and keep those fingers crossed. Jill in East Sussex

Jill, its easy to say but try not to worry too much, once we had a cat and he went missing for 3 weeks,we'd only had him for about a month but he got out,we put up posters, went searching and the local cat rescue lent us a cat trap but to no avail the one day i was sat there and he just trotted down the garden path like he'd never been away, Karen

Jill, our cat Thomas went missing for 8 weeks about 3 years ago, he was knocked down about 300 yards up the road, and we were one of the houses that wasn't notified. We rang round all the local vets, put up posters, and he was with one we had considered to be too far away. Dont give up hope. We also had a stray living in an outhouse (because of dogs and cats in the house) who went missing last July, I went out to the freezer that is kept in the outhouse about 2 weeks ago and she was sitting there demanding to be fed. I was so please to see her she had salmon that day. They seem to wander off at a whim. Hang on in there, Christine
