hI all- just got home from work !!! no ciggies all day !!! read the instructions again this morning on the patches, it said to stick one somewhere non hairy ! found a couple of square inches on my hip - 1/2 an hour later it was burning like mad. so i removed and stuck it on my arm. it really must have helped, because it has been easier than i thought it would be. i have been smoking for 25 years-[damn - just let on how old i am] started smoking when i was about three- lol.and when i have tried to stop before- i havnt even made it through the first day !! so anyone thinking of trying- GET THE PATCHES ! i have just put my first £4 in my jar ........ honey- is day 2 better or worse- i need to be prepared !!! and several people have told me i should not have had to pay for the prescription for patches, does anyone know anything about thiss ??????

Well Done our Sue! The arm is the best place. I have a feeling you are going to find this a lot easier than you thought! The patches are great. Have you got the ones you leave on all night? If so you will have great dreams!!! XX BC.

Just came back on to see how you are Sue.... Yes...each day gets better and it is best to stick the patches on your arms or back. You may get a bit itchy but it does go away. Keep in touch with me Sue and we can beat this together. Didn't have dreams so far Sue!! Couple more joining us soon. We got 2 threads now and the people on here have been great....just keep taking deep breaths and come onto the boards when you feel like one. Give the patch a rub every now and then...it helps. Anne xxxx :))))))))) Must say, I haven't wanted one so far...and feel fine.

Hi Sue, Once your on the patches the craving goes and it's quite easy. But i must admit I do think about smoking although I have resisted so far. Personally I think I came off the patches too soon as I'd only used them for 1 week the rest was cold turkey (I moaned about £17 for the patches, could buy 60 cigs for that, seriously though get them on perscription from the doctor it's much cheeper) My secret is that i haven't said i'd never smoke again, it's too final and hard to deal with. I've still got a packet and a lighter in my bag as I can't bring myself to throw them out yet. Just take each day as it comes thats what i do Good Luck Michele

well done to both of you, and good luck I gave up on 4th January this year and mentioned it on another thread. Got supportive emails which helped, especially through the first few days. Already spending what I've saved, that's the big incentive for me, well, that plus I my second grandchild is due in about 6 weeks and I'd like to be around to see them both grow up. Just keep distracting yourself, do things that you don't normally smoke whilst your doing them. After a few weeks you'll be able to smell a smoker at about 10 paces (and that is quite an incentive to continue not smoking!!) Best wishes to you both, and to anyone else who is embarking on this challenge Helen

hi anne and everyone , today was slightly easier. but my sense of smell has improved dramatically already ! i agree with the idea of taking 1 day at a time. i also have got a 10 packet [sealed] of ciggies in my pocket- this seems to help ! i suppose cos i know i can have one if i really need to . tomorrow might be harder though- i have a day off work. sue.

hi rachael- i was worse the night before i stopped ! i was really nervous and a bit panicky. still find the first cuppa in the morning a bit dodgy, so i drank it today while doing my sons pe kit and packed lunch- it helped ! every time i get twitchy- i go and find something to do with my hands.... like strangle hubby, or something .lol. am sure the patches must be working wonders though- it is easier so far than i thought it would be. good luck rachael- it helps us all knowing others are doing it too !!! keep in touch, sue.
