I'm puzzled by this latest news that Minardi aren't able to use last season's car, or should I say that they would be able to except Ferrari are the only team who are objecting to this (all teams have to agree). Yet Ferrari are not unveiling their new car until the Bahrain race. Have I misunderstood what's been reported? Why do Ferrari have a problem; Minardi have long been one of the minnows of F1? Is it just a case of Ferrari throwing their weight around?

Anyone remember a Japanese guy called Taki Inoue? He used to be famous for invariably crashing in his races, and I think succeeded in getting run over by a marshall's car at one race.

My ex-hubby use to be in F1 and I use to have a great time on practice days it was when Senna (he was the best) Prost and Nicki Lauder and all those were racing I think it was more fun then you never new who would win, I have not followed it for a few years now but you always seem to know who would win it took the fun out of it, I do not know if much has changed now. Debs.

Hi Andy. Yes, it was me who went to watch the race in Melbourne. I can't believe that a whole year has gone past so quickly...

It should not be that difficult - after all they are the cars that think it's a good game to drive round in circles getting nowhere don't they? LOL! Abigail

Lana, haven't seen you on here for a while! It was you who went to Melbourne last year? I stay up for the Australian GP also.

Hope Mr Shumacher can be stopped this season - otherwise, I will have a fit. Hope Button can do well this year, but I will be rooting for my other favourite drivers, Webber and R Schumacher. Can't wait until Silverstone. Anyone else going? Don't worry Lou - you won't be the only person watching - I'll be up as well!

I must confess that I probably would lose interest if it wasn't shown on telly. When I went to Le Mans, by the end of the third lap it was less exciting than standing by a Motorway watching cars going by. At least on telly you know who is leading and get to see ALL the action and not just the 100 yards in front of your nose.

A better Idea would be to make them all do like they had to in the 'Le Manns',Drive the car there and then Race it. That would really sort it out. and only one Mechanic. Hal.

Andy

Andy Report 28 Feb 2005 14:43

Hal, now there's an idea, mind you the FIA may go a stage further and suggest that Schumacher has his ankles tied together on the run to his Ferrari, lol.

Merlin

Merlin Report 28 Feb 2005 14:39

Andy, How about the old type of 'Starting' where the cars were lined up on one side of the track, and the drivers on the other.they then had to run to their cars and race off.Could be Fun. Hal.

The days I miss most are the Senna/Mansell days. When Mansell got called in a couple of laps from the end of the Monaco GP because they thought he had a puncture and he was all over Senna but just couldn't get past. The best image was of Senna and Mansell wheel to wheel at Barcelona when Mansell got past. 200mph just centimetres apart neither man willing to give an inch to the other - great stuff, was worth watching then. That's why keep watching, ever the optimist - hoping that this year will be different. Kxx

Paul, mate, I agree that it has become rather staid. I'd love to see more wheel to wheel stuff at the front end, like in the days before Ferrari took a stranglehold. F1's rulers are in a state of panic because they have to think of the commercial angle, which is why we're seeing kneejerk and sometimes gimicky changes to try and anchor Ferrari. Problem is that Ferrari seem to respond and adapt better to whatever changes are made. I'm just praying that at least a couple of the other teams have and can make sufficient inroads into Ferrari's advantage.
