I am suffering really bad at the moment, in my old house it was quite often then I moved here and have had nothing for a couple of months. Then two weeks ago it started again, door handles radiators taps cars its drivingme mad as I am scared to touch anything. Yes and even the Asda trolley last week. My boyfriend kissed me the other day only a peck but that gave me a shock too.

I do! I get shocks from the car, shopping trolleys, sometimes even the children. I find it is worse in dry weather and when I am wearing certain shoes, usually man made foam or rubbery soles. I think it is worse in these shoes because I am insulated , in leather soles the shock can go straight through me to the ground and I dont feel it. Someone with a knowledge of physics will probably say that is complete bunkum! Joan.(crackle crackle)

Debbie my hair is afffected too! it can drive you mad when you are trying to go out!!! The car door gives me a shock too. I wonder if it has anything to do with the material in our clothes! Anne

I agree with Joan about the shoes. I have noticed it with certain shoes

only thing you can do really is every few seconds discharge yourself on the supermarket shelving by just touching it . at work we use shrink wrap and on more than 1 occasion I've had blue sparks shooting from the wrap to my chest lol PAINFUL. Paul

No advice I'm afraid. Happens getting out of the car, using a shopping trolley, touching chrome rails and handles everywhere, kissing the kids and even going down a children's slide - my hair stands on end! I also cannot wear a traditional watch as it loses time! Mostly it's just little shocks but sometimes it really makes me jump! Daisy

Paul thanks for the advice but... it's painful enough and I don't think I will volunteer for more!!! Not going to touch the shelves!!! Could it be perhaps nylon in the clothes we wear? Anne

I've noticed it's a lot worse recently. I wonder if it is related to the weather? I never got a shock before in my new house, but I get them everyday now - even from plants!

June Report 9 Mar 2005 10:22

I was just going to say shoes, in certain shoes, people dont pick up their feet, sort of scuff the ground as they walk, this causes these shocks. when I was working there were complaints about the automatic door key pads, we watched and the ladies wearing high heels didn't seem to have a problem but the ones in flat shoes did. Also my granddaughter screamed when we were in BHS, one day I touched the metal of the pushchair and found out why ( I think it was the type of carpet they had) Cant answer the one about kissing though, at least you can say the earth moved, lol June xx

Sue Report 9 Mar 2005 10:25

I get shocks in our local Woolworths. I have to be careful opening the doors and only touch the glass and when I use the stairs I can't touch the handrail. Never had a problem in the lift though. I am usually wearing trainers, maybe I need to get some with rubber soles! Even when I used to push baby buggies I still got shocks from them in Woolies. The real Wonder of Woolies LOL I also got a shock from the franking machine at work yesterday, and thats got a plastic case! Sue xx

~♥ Daisy ♥~ Report 9 Mar 2005 10:30

June, the earth doesn't move for me cos it never happens when I kiss my husband, only the kids! Perhaps I should do some market research and kiss lots of men to see what happens! lol Daisy

Joan

Joan Report 9 Mar 2005 10:35

Things with plastic casings are bad because the static cant get to earth through them until YOU come along and touch it! Same thing in Woollies, cheap nylon carpet allow a build up of static . Dosent happen on quality wool carpets. Try a better class of shop!LOL! The worst shoes for it happening in, that I ever had, had a soft spongy sole. wedges they were. With nylon uppers. Lethal combination and probably rather sweaty now I come to think of it! Joan.
