Maz (the Royal One) in the East End 9256 Report 13 Mar 2005 22:11

My mum (she is nearly 82) rang me at 4.30 am Saturday with chest pains. Rushed over there within about 15 minutes. She would not let me call an ambulance so I drove her to the hospital (cutting a long story short). She was whisked more or less straight into Resus and pumped full of Morphine and Clot-busting drugs. We had fantastic treatment from the staff. Once she was stabilised she was put up on a ward and it has been confirmed that she had a heart attack - probably on Friday - brought on by a blood clot. We were told that she needed complete bed rest for 2 days and would be in hospital for at least 5 days. Anyway, she is making fantastic progress and has been out of bed today, asking to walk to the loo. She is fiercely independent and very physically active, so is not amused at having to rest! You can tell she is improving because she has started moaning! Of course, all this had to happen while I have the worst fluey bug I have had for about 4 years and my husband has flown off on business today for 2 weeks! Anyway, if you can spare and of those positive thoughts for us, they would be much appreciated! Maz. XX (going to bed in a minute cos I'm knackered!)
