Hi Sheila, Apologies... I got it a bit wrong about Kate's you-know-whats! Of the original 5 blue-tit eggs hatched, all but one died in the nest. The surviving fledgeling, they assume, has flown off with mum and dad. Don't forget -- it's not broadcast now until Monday. Then, I think, next week (Mon. to Thurs.) is the last in this series. Went to the London Wetlands Centre, yesterday. Had a really enjoyable time. Took the old binocs. (and the wife) and saw quite a number of birds not normally seen in your average town garden. Can recommend it as a good day out. Take a picnic or dine in the restaurant there. Safe and fun for children. If you'd like to know more go to www.wwt.org.uk or e-mail me and I'll fill you in! What a great series that was. All those birds that we hardly ever hear of (us townies, that is!) and their young, brought to us daily - live. Also other wildlife; foxes, badgers, voles, stoats...... We'll be staring at a blank screen at 8.00 p.m. for a while! Watch out for Autumnwatch in due course. Brian, ;<O |
