I had a Nanny & Grandad & a Grandma & Grandad, The Grannys chose their own titles as neither liked the other title for different reasons! My children call my Mum Nanny - she chose that too! My youngest used to call his dummy a 'nana' so that got a bit confusing!! I find that there are not many Nanny cards though for birthday & mothers day!

I'm Grandma and hubby is Grandad Doug to all our grandchildren. Their other grandfathers are all called Grandad (name) but Little Nanny, Big Nanny, Granny and Nanny for their grandmothers. My mum was always Grandma Mollie to mine and my brother's kids and it seemed right that I was called Grandma as Mum died before my grandchildren were born. My mother-in-law was always Nanny Worthing (coz that's where she lives! LOL) to my kids and now to my grandkids. My Canadian grandmother was Nanny in Canada and my English grandparents were Nanny and Pop Pop (changed to Grandad as we got older). My Dad always called his father-in-law Pop so I suppose Pop Pop was a natural name for him to be called. My son-in-law always called his grandparents by their first names (his parents too) but when my grandaughter was born my daughter thought it was wrong for her to use first names so they became Granny (name) and Grandad (name) and Great Granny (name). My mother-in-law refused to be Grandma or Granny as it made her feel too old and insisted on Nanny. She was 52 when her first grandchild was born. I couldn't wait to be called Grandma - I was 48! When my elder son started to talk he called my Mum 'Ma' and my Dad 'GaGa'! They soon corrected him though. LOL Sue xx

My grandmother was always Grandma, but I let the little ones of hubby's call me Nanna D.... I didn't want to be Nanny as that sounded like a goat to me and a bit to close to the truth!! :O)

I was brought up by my Grandparents .... my Grandma I called Nana ... and my Grandad ... I called Gaga, cos I couldn't say Grandad ! ... its still VERY difficult not to say Gaga when I'm talking about him, but I'm getting there with Grandad .. although it feels uncomfortable. Elaine :-)

I used Nana for one grandmother, Grandma for the other. Grandad for one grandfather and Grandpop for the other (even though I never knew him). They've all passed on now, even though I'm only 21.

I am Granmum, hubby is Grandad. When our grandson was little, he looked at my parents in law and said 'More Grandad', so that's what they are referred to, 'More-Gran and More-Grandad' and my mother is Gran. My own grandmother was always Grandma.

I remember using Grandma for my mom's mom, and Gran for dad's. My daughter made the difference by using little grandma, and big grandma, or used their surnames, I didn't fancy Grandma myself, our gorgeous girl is lucky enough to have three great-grans - one gran, one gamma, the other granny, all the men are grandad, she dubbed me Nanna, Bilal gets 'Dede' and she thinks we live in the computer!
