I only had one grandparent when I was a child, and he was called Grampa, but i hardly ever saw him. My daughter calls my mum Gramma, and my dad was Grampa. Her dad's parents are Grandma Margaret and Grandad, and she calls my hubby 's mum Nan |

My Nana was always...well...Nana! And I had my Grandad till I was about 3. My daughter, however, has a whole heap of names 'cos she has so many grandparents... Granny and Grampa (my parents) Daddy-Grampa and Nana Chris (her dad's dad & his wife) Nanny and Grampa Brian (her dad's mum and her husband) then Great Grandma Turner, who is sadly the only one of her G-grandparents still living. She was lucky enough to know 3 great grandparents before they passed on. My favourite is 'daddy-grampa' - she just came up with that one day and it stuck. |

My paternal grandmother likes to be called Nanny (that's what my dad called his grandparents) but I call her Granny. My mum's mother I call Grandma. My grandfather died a while ago and I've never met my dad's father (my grandparents divorced). Lucia :-) |

My dad's mum has always been 'Nanan' and his dad was 'Popa' to me. My children call both sets 'Grandma and Grandad' either with the donkeys or with Benji (dog). They call my grandmother 'Great Nanny'. Louise |

My mother was a children's nanny, so she is Granny to our children. My parents-in-law are now both dead, but their first grandchild, my eldest son, christened them Marna and Parder when he was beginning to talk. My dad's parents were both dead before I knew them, but my mum's parents were Grannie and Granddad to me. My husband was lucky enough to have all 4 of his grandparents living until he was 18. The English ones were Nanna and Papa and the Welsh ones Dadcu and Mamgu [willing to be corrected on spelling - its pronounced dadkey and mamgee] nell |

My sister's daughter defined the difference between my parents (Granda and Gran) and my mum's parents (Baldy Granda and Baldy Gran). Yes, my grandfather was bald. Margaret |

My kids (all grown up now) call my mother in law and father in law, grandma & grandad. My mum is also grandma, (that's what she likes) my dad is Poppy. When my grandad was still alive the children called him Old Poppy. When I was a child both sets were Nan & grandad, but I had one set of greats still alive, they were Great gran & Great grandad. I only had one Grandmother, the other and Grandfathers had died before I was born but we HAD to call her Grandma if we made the mistake of calling her Nan or Nanny we got Slapped! 'I am not a Paid Servant, I am your Grandmother'!, we all thought it funny and occasionally we slipped up just to annoy her, we had learnt to react quicker or course, :)) To my one year old Grandaughter I am Nanny, hubby is Grandad or Popsie and my Mum is Nanna, the other side is Nanny and Grandad too but I'm sure the surname's will soon be added on, my sisters to her are Granty 'name' and brothers Grungle 'name' :)))) Carrie |
