Mags, my kids live in York, I used to also, until I got divorced then moved back to Middlesbrough

That'll be the Castle museum, near Cliffords Tower, it used to be a women's prison and court house. Search Castle Museum York in Google

Oooops - no good having suggested that then! Sorry. Lou - we were in there AGES. Couldn't believe what time it was when we came out. There a little coffee shop too so you can have a break half way round. If you are going to York - there's a little pub in the Snickleway opposite the Minster. I think that was the name of the lane/street. The pub had a similar name too if I remember rightly. If you fancy a ploughmans - don't bother with having cake with your coffee in the museum! - They serve the biggest ploughmans I have ever had in my life!!

Lou - It was only me and Phil that went and we thoroughly enjoyed it - all ages can enjoy it. It's not especially for kids. Well worth a trip.
