I wasnt talking about the relay. Way before the relay I believe Pink was asked to remove some charity threads as Gr said there were too many on the boards. PS: Im NOT against pinks work and the threads diddnt bother me at all......just to make that clear. Elaine x

ELAINE, Can I ask a question - you may know the answer. How does the complaints thing work? Do GR remove a thread that has received a complaint solely because someone has complained about it or do they make an educated decision themselves? In other words, has anyone complained about a thread and it has NOT been removed? Just wondered because I have never been able to figure out the logic behind the complaints system. Bev x PS Elaine, I only asked you because you seem to know what makes GR tick, not because I think its you complaining!!!!!!

Bev Report 8 Jun 2005 18:23

yes Elaine but Jenny specifically asked Genes if she could use their name in the relay, to which they agreed. and now they are upholding complaints about fundraising i think they are sending mixed signals here and the complaints were about threads thanking people, nothing to do with raising funds! Elaine, it was Jenny that was asked to remove the GB Relay ones as all the Groups were putting their own threads on. xx

Maybe the threads were removed because a while back GR asked Pink to remove all but one thread ( I think ) Maybe they feel that more related threads are creeping back on the board. Ive looked on message board guidelines it says 'Don’t advertise, or use the service for any business or commercial or charitable purpose.' So GR are within their rights to ask for the removal of some. I think what Pink has achieved with her fundraising is wonderfull. And I am proud of Diana she is a gutsy woman. The memory of Gaynor will never be forgotton. Elaine x (ps it wasn't me who complained so peeps can cross me off their lists lol ! )

I can't believe that someone has complained about Pink putting a 'thank you' on the board! Or even about her fundraising! Neither can I believe the sick person/people who are sending hate mail to people who they 'think' might have complained. Maybe the sick person is doing both! Complaining to GR with one hand, and accusing people with the other - very strange form of attention-seeking but I'm sure the psychologists out there will have an opinion on this. You've done great Pink - I admire you not only for the amazing things you're doing, but also for your own openness and honesty. Mandy xx

What's happened ?

I agree fully with what Andy's said and mainly with what David has said. However, David, in my opinion, the rules are published for all to see, and everyone agrees to be bound by them when they join this site. I'm also repeating something that I've said several times before in situations like this - you cannot 'cherry-pick' who is allowed to break rules and who is not. That is grossly unfair. I've always called for fair play and even-handedness if 'punishments' are dished out. If one breaks rules and is suspended or dismissed from the site, others should take that as a warning and watch their behaviour. If they don't, it's their look-out. I've been out today, having a very pleasant lunch with another GR member, and I'm dismayed to come back and see that this sniping has been going on again during the day. As you've said, and as so many others have said SO many times - nobody HAS to read threads. CB >|< (Very proud to be on Diana's side and helping the cause, albeit in a very small way.)

David, I totally agree with everything you have said I too would be able to tell anyone if I ever complained about them or a thread. I have only ever complained about nasty and disgusting behaviour by a couple of now ex. members. I am sure it would stop a lot of the petty complaints that are happening day in and day out on here, if people were allowed to be told who complained that would change everything I think. There is far too many people believing they have the right to police these boards and GR allowing them too much leverage to do that. Its making for a very tired and dreary board because so many times people run to GR for the least little thing its becoming less worthy for people to post interesting debates and discussions for fear of being complained about. GR should not allow these people to STOP what is one of the Brightest and nicest things on this board, that is people giving their time and their energy for something constructive that is for CHARITY!!! Seems to me there are people on here who can't wait to start the next lot of trouble. I missed all what went on the other day, but this is just parr for the course. It's as if they are sitting there thinking what can we get our kicks out of next. Very, very sad. Especially when it is being aimed against something most of us are keen to be involved in and help where we can. I renewed a few days ago, makes me wonder why.

If GR are persistently getting complaints and I stress 'persistently' from certain quarters then doesn't this say something also that they might like to address.

Its very sad that anyone felt the need to complain. Christine

I've said all this before but I'm going to repeat myself (please feel free to ignore me) People on this site are complaining far too much. We all have subjects/people/types of threads that annoy/bore/irritate/offend us. It's sooo easy to avoid them! Even if a whole page is covered in threads we don't like or threads by a person we don't like we don't have to respond or even read them. Yet there are people running to abuse all the time like childish tittle-tattlers. Personally, I think GR need to judge each complaint on merit rather than neccessarily deleting a thread because it goes against the rules, because rules should be there as protection rather than to be enforced blindly. A lot of people will disagree but I also think that if a person has been complained about they should almost always be told who has made the complaint. This would stop some of the petty complaining that is being done. An exception (for example) being when something extremely sensitive has been posted and genuinely upsets someone - I'm sure the GR staff are capable of knowing the difference between a complaint that is genuine or one that is made for unpleasant reasons (like the one this thread is about). Speaking for myself, I would always be happy to tell someone if I'd complained about them. Sorry to waffle on your thread Paul:)

They hav,nt got the guts to say who they are. I just hope they never get the big C ,but then if they do i bet they will be glad of people like Diana for raising all the money for research to help cure them. I think that we should ALL complain about this. I am disgusted Val

No Paul cowards tend to hide in corners. About time whoever it is was barred for good from the boards, I certainly will be having second thoughts about renewing next year at this rate xxhugxx to everyone who cares.

I think we should complain, the threads were not offensive or anything that normal people would want removing. Because of one idiot, why should we all miss out on things?

Unknown

Unknown Report 8 Jun 2005 17:10

Serious question. Can GR members complain about the complainers? Because quite frankly, if what I am assuming to have happened, has happened. I find it quite offensive. Patty

Well said Paul. Maybe the complainers would love to do and achieve what Pink has, but dont have the go in them to do anything apart from sit and moan from their p.c.. shame on them!! Debs x
