I haven't seen most of what you have written Dave but if it had been really bad I'm sure it would have been 'zapped' :)) The people who talk about you seem to think you are great, so you can't be doing too much wrong can you. Of course, everyones point of view needs to be respected but I do think that there may be the odd person who actually enjoy looking for something to complain about. I'm not referring to anyone in particular here I hasten to add as I don't know who has complained about what in the past or whether they had a valid point. I always seem to miss those threads. Yes I would not like to see crudity or coarseness, I certainly wouldnt but most of you know that I can be a little bit naughty sometimes but I honestly dont mean to offend anybody and I mean anybody on these boards! When I post anything like that it is to make people laugh not to be offensive to anybody, it is perhaps my zany sense of humour getting carried away and I realise it is not to everybodys taste. So if I have upset anybody in the past by being a little bit naughty sometimes my apologies. This is a very difficult one Dave. I agree with Mags. I love a laugh and joke (naughty ones too if they are funny) but wouldn't like to see the board turn into a place where anything obscene was ok. I had a look on the FR chat once and couldn't believe what they were getting away with. It doesn't bother me as I just click off if I don't like something but the trouble is, who decides what is ok and what isn't? Chrissie |

Hello Len - Whilst I agree that we do come across coarseness and vulgarity in what can loosely be termed as the entertainment business, and the fact I am far from a prude and enjoy a good 'dirty' joke, I think we have to be careful that these boards do not become a no go area much as other chat sites have. Many other chat boards have become an arena for not just innuendo but downright filth. The thin edge of the wedge perhaps? Dave - You know I like a laugh as much as the next person and self censorship is an idea that could be useful but even with that in place I feel there are still boundaries and a mark which shouldn't be overstepped. As has been said before, what is a laugh to one person, another might find offensive and how are they to know what is offensive to them unless they read it? Not only that, would the author of a thread have to keep constant watch in order to add that warning to the title should someone make a post with a 'naughty' remark? Magsxxx |

I suppose Harry if we put PG up for some 70 year old reading it, it would be a laugh, but saying that somebody could be 70 and have a parent living at say 90 couldnt they? |

a good point Len and well pointed out,I would not like to see gutter stuff but the odd bit of innuendo in good fun should be ok if it does'nt get out of hand? Dave |

perhaps as some people have told me they do not like my singing or sport, I should put ''please do not read'' next to them?! :-) Joy |

You did right on yours Dave. A lot of people also post warnings on their jokes. Self censorship is the right term to use. happy days |

I have noticed people putting little warnings in threads, so would think most would take notice, me, well I read them all anyway regardless, always up for a laugh! Heather |

We are subjected to vulgarity and coarseness daily via our TVs radios and cinemas so why get uptight if it occasionally raises its head in these lily-white boards? Len |

Just a thought I know people dont want to read anything crude on here, but sometimes in a bit of fun there may be some adult humour posted. On My fancy dress thread last night on the header I posted 'may be some adult humour' so that anybody who does'nt like those type of jokes would be warned and not read the thread.Do you think there could be any mileage in posting a little warning on? NOT THAT THERE WAS ANYTHING OFFENSIVE IN THAT THREAD, everybody seemed to enjoy themselves. Davex |
