This is very sad. I hope it was nothing I posted or said which upset Dee. BC

I've had an email from Dee that she has cancelled her membership. I don't know the reason why. I hope she changes her mind and comes back. She is a lovely person and we'll miss her on the Book Club. Whatever you decide Dee, Take Care of yourself x

I too had a message from Dee this afternoon saying that she had left the site. She didnt say why. I was talking to her on MSN this morning and she wasn't very happy about a number of things. I've mailed her, and hope to be able to change her mind, but at the end of the day, she's an adult and quite capable of making her own choices. I also resent the implication that her leaving had anything to do with my thread earlier about the level of whinging on here lately (and please dont try to insult my intelligence by saying you didn't mean me Lisa). Dee is a friend that I've talked to many times off the board, and she knows me well enough to know what I meant.

I've had a response from the email I sent to Dee. Basically, she said that she was unhappy about the situation with regard to people frequently changing their identities. She has had trouble more than once on here with someone used a false name, and was unhappy when discussions about his yesterday morning were removed (she added to a couple of threads and those threads disappeared, whether the author or GR removed them I dont know). She decided she'd had enough and left. If anyone wants to pass a message to Dee, please let me know and I'll forward them by mail. Paul

I hope all those who are friends with Dee, and have whined about wanting to change their names for 'Fun' purposes, step back and take a look at the upset constant name change can do. People can get hurt, and now a valued member has left because of problems this has caused her. To avoid multiple identity problems all GR have to do is put our membership numbers alongside our names. Then we can change our names as often as we like - we will still be easily identified. If this was in place when Dee had her problem then it would have been quickly resolved. I cannot understand why they don't do it. This won't stop people registering under false names to cause trouble or complain to abuse. That is also something only GR can solve. Gwynne

Come back Dee! - It's been my one ambition to be quick enough to get all the answers to a quiz right!! - Now what am I going to do? Please come back. I am so sorry you have been upset - but remember there are more good people on here than morons! I agree with Gwynne and Heather - the only way to go to please everyone is membership number tagging. It still won't stop those who reregister under an assumed name specifically to be nasty and malicious - but at least it could help. Mags xxx
