She didn't say it to me but to her tutor and it got back to me. My daughter in describing her dad said 'he is open-minded, broadminded and a person of integrity who will always be objective' On standing down as secretary to my motorcling club, I was asked to stay on as 'we never know what the hell you are going to do next'. When my mum went into her Home, there was an old chap there who was in his nineties & he looked just like my granddad, (mum's Dad) & he looked at me sitting next to her & he said 'there's something about you, you have the most beautiful eyes i've ever seen, I can see how dearly you love your mum & she is very lucky to have a daughter like you' It made me cry then, & now they're both gone, it still does. No-one has ever said such lovely words to me, before or since. I won't ever forget them. :0) Joan

Quite a lot really. The usual, 'I love you mum' my children 'you have brought a lot of pleasure into my life' Hubby 'You're a class act.' My B&SIL when I had to have an operation with a pretty bad prognosis. But a young friend once said to me when I was about 47, 'you were the first person to make me realize that other peoples feelings mattered!' I felt really good about that. Deanna x

My daughter's friend, on graduating from uni, and whose own mother is a sweet person but not as clever as her daughter and did not see the point in a university education for a woman: 'You were my role model when I was growing up' I never saw myself as a useful role model for anyone. That touched me greatly.
