Patricia Report 9 Aug 2005 22:48

well if ur havin a foreigner done may as well have combi, will cost less! as you said they are still available, and probably will be for a while,! bringing out laws is one thing, enforcing them is something else (£2,900 is expensive) cant see how they can register any product if they,re doin a foreigner, and legally all gas appliances now have to be registered! think you should definateley check out corgi site before you go ahead, just type corgi in yr search, site will come up, good luck x

Patricia

Patricia Report 9 Aug 2005 22:33

no problem, hubby is advertising the same for around £2200 inc vat, but suppose it depends on what part of the country you live in and wether extra work is required. If they are asking £2900 cash wud this assume that they dont want to pay vat, if so then how can they register job after completion? just a thought

hiya cliff thanks. i wondered why when i look in our local paper even corgi approved plumbers are advertising combi systems . this is my quote of them (and it has to be cash) 1 condensing boiler, 7 rads with thermasts £2-900

they are right, it is the law now, came in in 1st April. Hubby has had steam comin out of his ears for weeks over this issue! Condensing boilers have to be used and registered by gas installer as soon as they are fitted. Apparently by 2007 all households will be required to have gas certificates to enable them to sell their house. Smallest ones hubby has seen is IDEAL ISAR range. Have to get a drain to condenser boiler so maybe thats why it needs to be moved somewhere else, hope this helps

Cliff

Cliff Report 9 Aug 2005 22:06

Sandra there is no law to say you have to have a condensing boiler, they,re trying it on.. Combie boilers are fine...... get someone else in, these lot sound dodgy? Cliff

hiya pat thanks.i am haveing central heating in this week, the blokes that are doing it say by law i have to have a condensing boiler. not botherd about that till i have sen the size of them on the net. the place they want to put it ,will look daft. and they cant use the place were my multipoint is. how come people are still advertising a combi boiler if the law says otherwise x

Patricia

Patricia Report 9 Aug 2005 21:55
