Mike, hope you dont think im insensitive in asking but was it expensive? i was totally shocked at how much funerals cost even tho i didnt have to pay for it - smacks to me of making a profit from peoples grief a bit. |

No she was buried.. and true to Mum in a bio gradable coffin thing! never thought of it but she did talk of it before--- you have biodegrable coffins then you plant a tree above -- some allow a plaque on the tree some dont--- there were 800 odd where Mum is so a small woodland? eventually ok you cant go and put flowers -- but as my Ma said flowers are for living--- when I'm long gone Ma's woodland will be here? |

Where about was it mike ? My neighbour had a woodland burial in January. There was a tiny chapel where you all met on the site. The coffin was made of wicker and was beautiful, a spray of flowers were put on top of the coffin (All was biogradable) The service was beautiful, tailored towards everything Albert was. The coffin was then put on this barrow thing and pulled to the site. It was the best funeral Id ever attended and my first burial. Elaine x ps the site was Herongate Wood Near Brentwood Essex |

Mike, we buried my mums ashes in a lovely place facing the sea, with loads of trees around. Its really comforting to have somewhere nice to go and remember. Hope youre doing ok, it gets easier to cope with. |

Mike excuse me if I am being insensitive, but is she buried there or did you bury her ashes? Altho either way what a lovely idea.... no gravestones and giving back to nature at the same time. xx |

Hi Mike Glad things went well How do you arrange a woodland burial? Daft question I know, but I am totally anti cremation and cemeteries seem to be filling at an alarming rate. Is it best to make your wishes known in advance? Dee xx |

I was so shocked when I realised Mum wanted this..... but have to say the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I thought Mum wanted traditional funeral -- she always talked of 'green' but to be honest we never paid attention! It was wonderful -- all she would have wanted and more... so calm so lovely then we planted a tree---hopefully more will bury here so it will grow into a small woodland -- it was beautiful. |
