I've lived in the South for most of my life and am now in the South East near Folkestone. Furthest North I have been is Callendar in Scotland. Westwards, I guess St Davids in Pembrokeshire is the most distant point. I've never yet been to Cornwall, something which I hope to change before too long.

I am a southerner but was once offered a job in Glasgow. I chickened out after the interview but then wished I had taken it. I have been to Lands End and still have the photo by the signpost to prove it. My husband's family come from Invernessso we might get up there one day.

Visited John O'Groats and Lands End, but many years apart. Also been to lots of places in between, mainly north, (Mum's a Lancashire lass) but loved Cornwall, Hereford, Cambridge and North Wales. And I do love my home country of Scotland. Jenny, Edinburgh is definitely north of Lockerbie and Ecclefechan. Micheal, Stirling is north of Ayr. All of them beautiful areas. Ron Many congratulations! I have great admiration for people who do these endurance journeys. Aren't we lucky to live in a country with so many lovely places, all different and attractive to different people? Sheila

David Report 3 Oct 2005 16:37

It depends what you mean by North and South. Down here the midlands start at Edgeware and North starts at Watford. I worked with a Geordie who considered my wife, who comes from Sheffield, a midlander, and said they were quite put out that BBC North comes from Manchester which they considered firmly in the midlands.
