I want to back Julie Ann up as I work in a chemist and more often than not the script goes missing at the surgery because the driver only gives a name, then the receptionist hands over the form or forms with that name on. The driver does not know how many forms he should be collecting for each person but the surgery does. However, like Julie Ann, I would have chased up the surgery and may be offered an emergancy loan or sent our driver back. She did seem unwilling to help, but in general, the chemist (at least ours) provides a good FREE (yes the company get an amount per script they make up but you would have to bring it to a chemist any way so collecting it is just cutting out the trip for you) service. I hope you have a better experience next time. Claire xx |

Hi Jeanette Take your point about all the trouble you have had between the Chemist and the Surgery. But, just to point out, you mention that the Surgery had not done your prescription as you ordered it too early. I work for a GP as a Practice Manager, and we would NOT do a prescription that was too early (by too early, I don't mean a few days, but a week or more). Most of our patients are genuine and lovely, but we do have a few who try to play the system, ordering their medication earlier and earlier each month, so they can get more. Obviously, we can't just allow them to do this, but at the same point, we can't discriminate and start saying for instance, Mr J can't have his script early because he is addicted to Co-codamol or whatever, but Mrs B can, because she is really nice and buys us presents at Christmas! This would not be fair on either patient and we just wouldn't do it. So, even though it seems we might have silly rules, they are there for a reason, mostly to benefit the patient. Obviously, we can be flexible, and if any patient tells us they are going on holiday, or need their prescriptions early for a valid reason, we would use our common sense. Having said that, the Receptionist should have been a bit more understanding, and perhaps ascertained WHY you had ordered early. In your case, we would have made a note on the computer giving the reason why the prescription had not been given (i.e too early); then when the patient or pharmacy rang, any member of staff would know the reason. Just wanted to let you see the problem from a different angle! Hope you don't have the same problems in future. Best wishes Carol x |

hiya jeanette, me and my hubby do a delivery service for the local chemist. when my hubby gets the medication. we both double check the lists and the medicatoin. you cant be too careful. On occastions(bad spelling)i will say mrs such abodys stuff is not here, so we go back for it, they look as much to say i was sure it was in, we enjoy doing it cos for some old dears, you maybe the only people that they see that day. If me and hubby need any medicine etc. we go else were. dont want everyone to know our buisness. cos we live in village, were everyone seems to know oneanother. the other week my hubby wanted some gaviston tablets, so i asked for them, they were paid for and put in a bag,T hat night he went for them and shouted to me'someone is extracting the urine' i said what do you mean, they had given me period pain tablets. When i went back next day the girl said'i dont remeber selling them to you'. i said 'listen love they are no good to my hubby. and them period pains have long gone for me. so please change, she did lol x |

Jeanette, Buy another haddock, a small one and while they are busy or otherwise, staple it under a lower shelf ! Chances are they won't find it for weeks or even months !! A friend of mine nailed a kipper under the dining table of a B & B down in Minehead after experiencing lousy food, service and accommodation. Don't get mad, get even ! |

I used to be a doctors receptionist and i think i was really good at it,, lol,, I always tried to be nice to the patients,,,most of them are ill after all. We had one man who used to have repeat Rx posted to him every month,,,he provided the sae and we would just sort it out and put it in the post box. One time,,it didnt arrive when his wife thought it should ie--next day, So she rang up at about 11-00 and had a right go at me, I explained that she had used a 2nd class stamp so it wouldnt arrive the next day,, Then she wanted me to wait behind after the surgery had closed so she could collect ianother one,,, We closed at 12-00,,,she wanted me to wait until 1pm, Well no chance of that happening,,,Then she wanted me to 'leave the prescription outside somewhere' Im afraid i couldnt do that either so she wasnt too happy , I might add that this lady wasnt elderly,,infirm or disabled,,she had a car and only lived 10 mins away, We had some lovely patients and some bloody awful ones too, |
