Hi Paul I like the names! Though have to agree are a lot of Jacks here too tho' I don't know a dog called Cassie. I have three lads all with italian names (Italian father) but each time we had a huge list of girls names our favourites were Rosa and Nina and Isobella, but I have found some lovely names doing the family history my fav being Kezia but also Lydia and Eliza. Cheers Kaz

Hi Paul, I also agree with what most people have said on here, that there are a lot of Jacks about, and I too knew a pet that was called Cassie, it was a horse! I chose the names Lauren, Nicola, Stephanie, Leigh, Sasha, if I was to have girls and I had three of them, and for my boy I chose Stephen, but also like Danny, Kian, Mitchell. I am sure whatever you choose it will be just right for your little one. Marie

I think Cassie is a lovely name. My daughter had a school-friend called Cassandra, and she was always called Cassie for short.

Both are nice names, only problem all boys seem to be called Josh or Jack at the moment. If you want your kid to have an unusual name for his generation give him a name that was about when we were young - I called my eldest son Christopher and he's the only one at school (there were loads 20 years ago!). I think if you like Cassie you should name her Cassandra but call her Cassie - then she has an official name. I'm called Jacqueline but go by the name of jacquie - it's nice having the choice- people I don't know well callme Jacqueline etc.

Paul It's a very personal choice - I couldn't think of a girls name I liked enough so glad I had a boy but that was 26 years ago! I know of a staffordshire bull terrier called Cassie but she is lovely! I like Jack but I also like Jacob, Jake, Molly, Lauren, Laura - can think of loads! Debby

When I had my eldest son nearly 23 years ago we named him Jack, nearly everyone said 'oh you can't call him that its an old mans name' lots of people thought it was short for Jonathon, but no he was Jack no middle name just Jack. I didn't know any other Jacks apart from older men. Now as everybody has said every other boy is called Jack. So even if you choose an unusual name now in 20 years is will be common as muck lol. I still think Jack is a lovely name though, but I am biased. Sue

Whatever you decide, don't pick a name that used to be fashionable. I was named after my Mother's friend. Consequently the only other Janets I meet are 20+ years older than me. ( Well that applies south of the border anyway)

babynames dot com, let you search a meaning of a name for example search for a name with Warrior as a meaning and you get a long list including:- Anakin Emlyn Keitha (female) Kelly Lewis Trudy Zelda......to name but a few you could give that a go and see what you get, it aslo lets you control what your childs name means. Looked up your 2 original lovely choices Jack means G_d is gracious and a pet form of John. Cassie from Cassandra meaning Prophetess.

They are lovely names Paul and as soon as your little one is born you'll know exactly what his or her name should be!! We wanted to call our son Jack but our best friends got there first. Ellie was going to be Chloe until the minute she was born and for some reason we decided she had to be Ellie. She's now called Daisy at school because there are a few Ellie's! lol Daisy (real name Sue which I don't really like)
